Arnaud, please, qualify here. Is seeding in qualification in Wimbledon also something special like in the Main Draw? Or just based on rankings?

I still have some believe in WC!

Surprised to see Crivoi committing to this.

I'll probably head to Roehampton on the first day of qualifying, even though it's at the peak of exam revision :help:

Who I want to see qualify and who I expect to qualify are sort of polar opposite.

Of my favorites who I think can qualify, I can see Marco making it, if he's fit. I think Dudi will make it. Hopefully Igor makes the MD direct, if he doesn't, I think he should qualify even though he isn't a grass player, depending on the draw he gets. I'm not sure about Karol, because I don't think he's consistent enough to win 3 matches in a row, but grass is a surface he should outplay most on. Arno, I like his chances and I like Dancevic's chances. I think Gilles has the best chances of all of my favorites, he and Steve, I fully expect to qualify.

I can't see Simone, Jan, Simon, Bjorn or Leo qualifying, but maybe one of them will surprise me. Also hopefully the rest of my likes qualify.

How do people expect Schoorel to do here? I'm not sold on his grass court abilities.

If you mean Chiudinelli, I don't understand why you think he can qualify. He is absolutely dreadful on grass and is in poor form. I really hope I am wrong though. And Darcis on grass? Hm.

Clément, Muller, Dancevic are obvious picks for qualifiers, if they are in different sections of the draw.

How do people expect Schoorel to do here? I'm not sold on his grass court abilities.

He is very inexperienced and his net game isn't stellar, but if he serves well he could make it into the final qualifying round and maybe one step further.

Am pretty sure Muller, Dancevic, Clement, Sela, Tomic, Harrison, Falla, Andreev, etc. can qualify.

Filo V.
06-06-2011, 11:47 PM
No, I meant Gicquel. I forgot that Chuidi is actually named Marco

Marco C. I can't see making it. Just not playing well at all.

He is very inexperienced and his net game isn't stellar, but if he serves well he could make it into the final qualifying round and maybe one step further.

I agree. I don't think his game suits grass, his big takebacks on his swings and his movement on grass I think will be issues, and he's not amazing at the net as you said. But he does serve hard and hit the ball hard so that counts for something.

He's definitely going to want to avoid one of the tricky veteran types.

Filo V.
06-07-2011, 12:51 AM
Steve is good on grass. He likes the surface, he's got a good serve, moves well, he's light on his feet which is good for grass, and he's got pretty good ability at the net, a nice slice and relatively compact shots. If he's in good form and healthy, he's tough to beat for non-top players.

I think this year there are fewer guys who have the combination of good grass ability and good form more than many years. There are quite a few men in the list who one would think have good chances of qualifying but I think it's questionable.

Harrison and Tomic I expect will get WCs. I think guys like Udomchoke, Herynch, Ram, Guccione, Meffert will be very dangerous. I expect a lot of the seeds to lose early.

Just noticed Zack Fleishman is on the list. He hasn't played since 2009  I really hope his injury problems are behind him.

Similarly, Dorsch has only played one match this year, yet is on the list.

If they don't qualify, are they allowed to play Wimbledon Q next week?http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/index.htmlNB Regrettably, because of problems with scheduling, Competitors will not be allowed to play singles at Eastbourne as well as in the Qualifying Competition. Players who lose in the singles main draw at Eastbourne before the sign-in for the Qualifying Men’s or Ladies’ Doubles may sign-in and compete in the Qualifying Men’s or Ladies’ Doubles, but only if they are not competing in the Men’s Doubles or the Ladies’ Doubles at Eastbourne. The Referee’s decision in all matters will be final.

crap, so marius either has to lose a chance to play in the main draw at eastborune or the wimbledon qualies..tough to know what to do

he's in tough against schuettler in the final round but he also still needs a couple withdrawals..tank and hope to get in to qimbledon qualies or play hard and try and make the main draw?

It is not about being able to be there on time or not. I think it might have to do with him not being eligible to play if he is still in competition elsewhere at the time the draw is being made.

I might be wrong though - I haven't read the official regulations - but that seems quite commonsensical to me.
