At the moment, we don't know where it will be. We think of some cities in the south of France. It won't be in Paris, that is sure. As soon as I get some news, I'll tell you :)

i was looking at the photos of the Swedish Davis Cup players, and they were matching!! how cute! the pictures are crap, but just imagine, being there, seeing all the cute swedes matching! and it looks like they're all wearing very nice suits. I wonder if their ties match too! sorry, the pim pim pic was not a matching one.

@jmgs.....
Great pics! Where did you find them? On the official DC site?

By the way, the Swedes are really "crazy". Anybody knows if they will win the 1st round, but the Swedish Tennis Association is already planning where to play the 2nd round;-) Hopefully they will reach it!

and where would they play the second round? :D
Bastad would be great in summer. However imho
they shouldn't play on clay against Chile or Russia.

As there are still 4 towns in Sweden which make up between DC matches (Gothenburg,
Malmö, Helsingborg and Karlstad), it seems that Karlstad is the 1st choice right now (this was also what they discussed in the Swedish papers).
Though, they are thinking of maybe playing outdoor and then I guess Båstad would be 1st choice, but they also thought about building up an outdoor arena in one of the 4 cities.
We will see, but first our Swedes have to beat France;-)

I think ToJo made himself available.
During the Aus-Sweden tie, ToJo was playing in a challenger in Europe somewhere (i think). It was one of the bigger, more important challengers so it was better for him to go there and boost his ranking up a bit :yeah:

I guess Karlstad is about 3-4 hours from Halmstad, but anyway, it´s not
sure that they will play there. They said they have to discuss it (and Sweden has to beat France!).

No, I will not go to Stockholm this year. I have been there so many times, and wanted to see something new, this is why I will go to Madrid this year.
I am already so much looking forward to it

uh, for me you need to speak in björkman/enqvist terms... i have no idea who any of them are except björk/enqvist... hehe it seems like i've been into tennis forever, but i still don't know who those guys are. so i guess i sound dumb too... more dumb as a matter of fact, since you know who carl/kulti are. maybe ill do some davis cup research to find those answers

jmgsdoubsprtnr
10-20-2004, 06:50 AM
ok, lets see... i just had a whole long post about who i thought it might be but it got erased, so here's my input (after doing some DC research): it's either Larsson or Edberg... those are the only 2 guys on the team when carl, Kulti, Enqvist, and Björkman were also there, and that was in 1995 and 1996. i thought it might also be Tillstrom, but he's much too cute, as i sat next to him, and actually thought he might be Enqvist's brother or relative, until i saw his nametag... plus, i realized that Björkman wasn't on the team when Tillstrom was, so he's out. So here are the choices: Magnus Larsson or Stefan Edberg. i hope you can figure it out from there.

I had to ask GWH for this and he provided the answer and the guy below Kulti is Anders Järryd. He used to be in the golden Swedish generation of Swedes in the 80s and was a top 10 singles player and a very good doubles player, who used to partner initially Edberg and then the now Aus Davis Cup captain Fitzgerald.

The city which will host the first round of the DC 2005 France-Sweden will be Strasbourg, in the eastern part of France.

If some of you plan to go there, www.thomasenqvist.com organises a trip for the fans who would like to support the Swedish team, with mainly French people LOL

Well, if you want to join, come to the Enqvist forum and write your name.

thanks

The DC match Sweden-France in the beginning of march will be played on clay. Mats Wilander sees this as a good sign, because he is convinced that the French team doesn´t see any good winning possibilities on other surfaces than clay against the Swedes! ;)

And if both Sweden and Russia win, the 2nd round will be played in Sweden, right?

Hi erica!
Welcome to the Swedish forums :yeah:
Nice choice in cheering for Sweden (Though I found some nice frenchmen in the Aussie tournaments!), I'm not sure where it would be played. I think you're right. I seem to remember Russian players annoying me by beating my guys a couple of years back

I have to admit, that if Sweden would play against Russia, I would cheer on Russia (don´t kill me now! ) But that´s because I have a huge obsession about Marat Safin :)
But I wouldn´t mind Sweden winnig either.
Usually I support Sweden in all sports, but not in ice hockey!!

thanks for the warm welcme! :)
