Taylor hasn't been able to find consistent form at all all year long. Started at the beginning of the year at AO and has carried all year long - he has just been extremely extremely inconsistent. Unfortunately for him, this might drop him out of the top 40

What's the 86 win record, makro?

I'm not bothered about him beating Muster. His titles were mostly smaller clay tournaments anyway, nothing like the set that Roger has won this year. In any case, Lendl has a better record - 15 in a single year. Don't think that will get broken.

Federer doesn't need to win everything. He already had enough success this season and walked away with the big titles, there are a lot of other players around who can also play tennis and who would deserve to play a tournament that sees a non-Federer tournament win.

Here you have some records:

http://www.atptennis.com/en/newsandscores/news/2004/federer_clinches_no1.asp

Don't know about the 15 Lendl titles, but Muster has the 12 atp tournaments record and in Lendl's time I don't think there were atptournaments, maybe some of those 15 would not classify as atptournaments?

I agree - he's had an awesome year already, he should try and save himself a bit so he can win the Masters Cup. I don't mind seeing him win lots of tournaments though, I just wish someone could get a rivalry going with him. At the moment his two closest rivals are Roddick and Hewitt and he seems to have their number every time he plays them and it gets boring knowing he his going beat them every time!

True, i thought when Federer played Henman at the US Open i really thought Tim would put up a bit more of a fight, and the same with Hewitt, because the way that Hewitt was talking i thought he might pull 1 or maybe 2 sets off Federer. Roddick, Hewitt and maybe aggasi or henman or maybe ferrero could possible cause some upsets if they meet federer, but not many other players have a chance, for now anyway.

If he takes a break every now and again it could continue for awhile. But remember when Hewitt dominated for two years he seemed to play everywhere and it ended up catching up with him last year! Hewitt was smart though and took a bunch of time off and now he his back near his best.

koolnorman

Federer has never won anything outside europe/US, he must win this. Federer has played lot less matches than Hewitt/roddick this year, he has saved himself enought. He has the oppurtuinity here to have the best eyar ever i nthe history of the open era, he should concetrate on creating history.

Another record came up in my mind: most prize money ever, Sampras has the record now with 6.5 milion or something, I think Federer got almost 5 milion..

Federer is just on another planet right now! Give the others a little bit of time and they will start to catch up a little bit. Look at Tiger Woods, everyone thought he would go on forever winning the way he was, but because he was so good he brought the players around him up another level. Hopefully this is what will happen with Federer and his foes.

That's why I said he is a better version of Wayne Arthurs because at least Greg can rally with you a bit! Karlovic and Arthurs just mash a big serve and hope it doesn't come back. It is truly cringeworthy watching them trying to rally. I think back to Arthurs in the Deciding rubber of the Davis Cup final against Escude and all escude did was try and get his serve back to get in a rally and it worked like a charm unfortunately

That's just his temperment. It's always frustrated me when he's not reacting sometimes when I know that he must be boiling over inside. Alex must make a decision Katherine. Does getting angry and throwing a fit help him or hurt him? Some players have the makeup to do that and play well (Hewitt, Saffy, Mac) and some don't (edberg, sampras, federer). Alex may need to think about that at some point in his career.

Tricky_Forehand
10-01-2004, 07:36 AM
He's a human being and it depends on the day. I'm talking about from what I know and have personally seen him holding his temper back and he spent so much energy at that, his tank would empty early.

He doesn't have to have his mind set one way or the other.

Dirk
10-01-2004, 10:04 AM
Even the coldest lose their temper but if he doesn't win as much then he should try the other way. It's not so much not showing it just changing your attitude. Either way right now he is spending energy, but if he can just be relaxed and focused during the tight times that would really help.

He did play better much better in the 2nd set. I don't know if he lost his head after the first set but if he did then it did help him in the 2nd set. Maybe he falls into the Feeler section then like Hewitt, Saffy, and Mac.
