Why doesn't Berdych win any titles

He is the only top 10 player without titles recently the last one came 2 years ago in Munich. Where do you think his chances are in 2011??

Zero. This accidental GS finalist will fall in rankings rapidly.

Berdych only peaks for slams. He dosen't needs to win MM titles to stay in the top 10.

:hearts: I take it that'll be his next title then

He plays only big tournies where there are Nadal, Djokovic and Federer and indoors with Soderling. Chances of success becomes very limited then.

Do you count "Big" 500.s as MM i sure don't. You could question why Berdych isn't even winning some 250.s

I highly doubt he will def his GS points in FO and W..

He'd better, if not, he will take the big jump.

Because he rarely beats top players when they are at their best.

 OTOH, he's doesn't lose when he's at his best. It appears the result comes down to who was at his best on a given day. What a conundrum, there's practically no legit wins on the tour as at least one player is not at his best on the day.

Tomas focus the biggest tournament.
There are players who win 3-5 titles (of course smaller) and make nothing on GS and MS event...

Because he's never the best player in any of the tournaments he plays?

Is that a reasonable excuse to end your career with maybe a single figure in titles??

My point was that he is the only one in top 9 without titles in the last 2 years 250,500,(1000 tuff for everyone) and not even that many finals so what's wrong

Is it that simple that he just doesn't care.

because he finds it hard to play 4-5 matches at top level
and when he plays bad he plays really really bad

Don't worry I'm mad at Berdych because of this.

He's a mental midget. And I'm a fan. Those are probably connected.

He is not good enough to beat better players in the SFs or Finals of the tournaments and that's a pity. He is a good player. I see him winning 1-2 titles this year ;)

You do realize that most in top 10-15 play 2-3, maybe 4 and it's a big maybe, 250 tournaments a year, one of which is usually a highly competitive Queens/Halle? Unless they happen to win those they enter, it's 500 and up. I suspect it will become relatively common for guys who play a lot of these, but have no particular results in slams and masters, to bag some titles, whereas some at the top will go without. Personally, I'd rather he does as he did last year, then get some MM title and exit a slam in R4

Well its easy to say he doesn't care just because he made Semi and Final at Gs in 2010. But at that point he hadn't still won any 250.s and 500.s in a year and not since then. I belive he has problems in the later stages.

I would have included Robin in this thread hadn't he won 4 titles in his last 7 tourneys played:D And he also has big results in GS events the last couple years.

I would also say many 250.s are competitive besides from some mug tourneys anyway in the semis and in the final. You still want some titles in your bag and a boost now and then.

Berdych made RG semi and SW19 final and Miami final but has no titles. His last non-Slam/Masters final was Munich in 2009 :o
Verdasco made USO quarterfinal, Monte Carlo final & Rome semifinal, won Barcelona and San Jose.

I'm so sick of that word on MTF... but in this case you're bang on!

In my opinion, he is one of those extremely talented players, who don't fulfill their real potentials. Just like Nalbandian. After Wimbledon I knew it's not gonna be easy to keep up that form with such weak mental.

Because he has a low percentage game. He should've won Chennai this year for example, but he had a really bad match against Wawrinka and let's put it straight: he didn't really try his hardest at any point in the tournament.

Then he played in Rotterdam where he got sick (and he would've had a chance to fight for the title with Soderling). In Marsille he got beaten by Cilic who played his best match in the last year there, and he was also carrying an injury.

And that's it. He can definitely win titles, it just hasn't happened yet but I can't say that that's really concerning. I mean look at Querrey, he has won a shitload of titles in the past 2 years and he's still looked at as a joke.

berdych is massively overrated. so is his ranking. he will fall out of the top 10 this year anyway.
