what says MTF?

Federer to get revenge for AO and Dubai or Djokovic to make it 3 in a row in straight sets?

Need to think about this match.

If Federer serves very well (>70% first serves) could see him winning, but would require an excellent serving day to win. Otherwise see Djokovic winning.

Federer may have to wait till Wimbledon before he beats Djokovic next.

Always a funny one when Djokovic has a chance to overtake him for number 2. Should still be relatively comfortable in two.

I'm glad they meet again in the context of the first semifinal, I mean four best players in the world gathered together in the last 4 give you an expectation of high quality tennis in the last two days of the tournament. Yup, I consider Del Potro as a better player than Murray and Soderling. I suppose he's going to finish the season as No. 4 in the world, there where he belongs at the moment.

I'm not sure yet. I think Roger has a better shot than most will give him and at this point he will officially be #3 in spirit and ranking if he were to lose again to Djokovic. With that said, on these slow courts, and if it's a night match the courts will be even slower, it's going to be very hard for Roger to execute his game throughout the match without breaking down. I think Roger needs to come out early on his A game or Nole will get and stay on top of him.

Key point is that Federer was at his best 5 years ago while Djokovic this year and next year will be at his best.

The GS total is reflection of career achievement and Federer will finish far ahead of Djokovic I expect by the time both have retired.

Currently Djokovic is in the form of his life and a comfortable favourite for this match.

I challenge any of the fedtard fanboys who predicted that fed would win this in straight sets to give a single reason how this is possible considers joker's level of play over the last few months including his routine wins over fed. This is why polls suck. It might as well say "who do you want to win, and how"

Tomorrow really is this guy's absolute last stand. If he loses, not only will he lose complete confidence against Djokovic and become his pigeon but he will also NEVER regain the No. 2 spot again and possibly never recover his confidence.

If he wins, Rafa will probably beat him as usual again and Djokovic being a young up-beat guy will just return to beat him 2x in a row next time they meet.

Whatever happens is there ANY good scenario for Roger Federer? Even if he wins, he's only barely holding together until his next loss - which is common in the hard-court part of the year but even more so in the clay-season.

It appears to have begun in Dubai.

He had his knee taped first for the AO final.

Everything is pointing to a relatively straightforward Nole win - slow court, no heat, better form. So maybe it will be a titanic battle, or Fed will win in a blowout. Or something, fuck knows.

I think at their current levels Novak is just too good for Fed on HC so I'll pick him in straights. Not saying Fed doesn't have a chance to win of course but at this point Novak has to be a clear favourite for this match.

It's good result from Fed to reach the SF regardless,so far he's winning the matches he's supposed to win which is an improvement upon last year atleast.

There will be no 3 set here. If Roger plays well he owns in 2 like in London, if plays badly he loses in two like Dubai. It's on Rogers Racket and i think he will step up.

If Roger loses i wont post in GM till April 20th

yes :yeah:

When you look at ancient Fed's matches there's no comparison between his movement now and in the old times. Hence also his ability to hit winners (and from what I read, that's what he will try tonight : I'm afraid it might be an errorfest  )

He would have desperately needed that movement tonight.

But I'm happy he keeps on his semi-final streak and I appreciate a lot Fed's current efforts :yeah: I hope he keeps on in Miami as he may have a better chance there ;)

I usually never vote in polls and simply don't believe in predictions, but I always read poll results because of curiosity!!!!! Having said that I cannot believe Nole is winning all the polls for this match and is the favorite even with the bookies....!!!!!!! He is jinxed because whenever he is a favorite and something is on the line he falters..... I am a Nole fan and would love more than anything in the world for him to win today, but realistically speaking he may not! I know a lot of the Nole fans (Nole Fan, Vida, Nikola Bgd, Dejan, Noleisthe best, etc.) will give me hell for this and will call me a pesimist and say that I don't believe in Nole! Here is why I am not comfortable saying that he will win:
1. Played too much tennis of late
2. Winning streak has to end, but I enjoyed it for longer than ever with Nole and I am looking forward to another even longer Nole winning streak
3. Icing and strapping of the knee is something much more serious than what Nole and his team are revealing; I indeed believe he has an inflamation because he played a lot; since December (Davis CUP)he has not stopped and did not even have a vacation; I am sure if he looses he will not use this knee injury/inflamation as an excuse he will give credit to Fed, because no matter what all his haters say, he is still very gracious in defeat and respects his opponents especially Federer
4. His confidence is sky high because of a great season he's had so far, but when you are not physically well (knee) your confidence will crumble
5. #2 spot is on the line and this is Fed's chance not to let that out of his hands because if he lets it go he will continue on doing so; having said that he will convincingly play and defend what he currently has (#2) spot; Fed will be extra motivated and will take advantage of a somewhat physically vulnarable Nole
6. Nole on the other hand will be satisfied with a great season so far and will say that he will have more chances to overtake number 2 and take care of himself physically going into Miami and the clay season (too bad because he deserves a higher ranking than the one he has considering all the great results he's had in 2011)

These are my thoughts!!!! I look forward to the match and may the best today, win!!!!

It will take phenomenal effort for Rogi to win a set. That would impressive and worthy of praise. Sadly I just can't see how he can beat the hottest man on the HC circuit right now...the man who has destroyed him the last 2 times they have met.

Heart says Rogi wins a set head says Nole wins in straights...quite easily in fact.

I want Federer to win!! But he can't afford to play a streaky match, since Djokovic is on an 18-0 run so far this year. But then again, you can never predict the outcome of their matches, so who knows if Djokovic will play a great match or not.

One thing is for sure though, if vintage Federer shows up then he is going to win.

One more thing:

Estoril: SF
Madrid: F
FO: QF
Halle: F
Wimbledon: QF
Toronto: F
Cincinnatti: W
US Open: SF (had 2 MPs)
shanghai: F
Stockholm: W
Basel: W
Paris: SF (had 5 MPs)
Masters Cup: W
Doha: W
AO: SF
Dubai: F
IW: SF (at least)

simply the best!

Djokovic to win 6-4, 6-4.

Currently Djokovic is in the form of his life and probably at his peak physically at nearly 24 and mentally has that fearlessness which goes with youth. Whereas Federer at nearly 30 will not be as fast and agile as before and probably more importantly nerves often become more significant with age.

Given the choice of number 1 or Wimbledon Federer would choose Wimbledon.

I don't know about that, I mean if Federer likes slams more than he likes being number one it would only be by a small margin, because Federer's recent comments suggest he really hates being number 2 and is focused very hard on being number one again

As far as I know, those "0"-pointers stay for 52 weeks. He got it for not playing Hamburg, so it will stay until then. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Possibly.

Although being number 1 often involves playing every week going deep accumulating points and not being in peak condition for GS wins. A failed clay season probably enhances Wimbledon prospects, but does damage your ranking.

That would be sound reasoning were it not for what happened last year. Failed clay season could only deliver a quarter final showing at Wimbledon.

Karin is right.

When Hamburg's zero pointer dropped in July, the points from Dubai or MC (whichever is higher) will add to his ranking points and when Washington's zero pointer is out, he will have Dubai and MC points if he does not enter Hamburg and Washington.
