Very one-sided. Melzer had 3 BPs at 1-1 in the second set, but couldn't convert because of UEs. Very good BP conversion from Gasquet (wasn't it 3/3?)

Nice one Richou  Beat the serve machine next, whether the pushing one or other

BTW, devoted to Certinfy, who was adamant Gasuqet is not making top 20 ever again :haha: Was there a bet involved, I forget?

Richard completely dominated this top 10 player.

:yeah: congrats Richie, Seb has a good influence on him. Melzer was a bit tired, couldn't defend his chances but Gasquet was solid, especially in last game when he made 3 great points to win.

Melzer was diabolical. Borderline tanking for alot of the match, he just wasn't mentally willing to give himself a chance to win.

Gasquet served well first set and hit some nice winners, but plays so far back is a non-entity against any top player who can actually find the court.

You know something is terribly wrong when you get breadsticked by Gasquet and only win 4 games.

Liar, liar  I'll find it if need be, I'm only not sure if we made a bet of it or not

Couldn't watch it, but congrats to Gasquet.
Must do quite a bit for his confidence, beating a top-10 player including a breadstick.

nah I think it was 5 break points converted 4.

He saved 3 on his own serve i think in that one game.

That was a very convincing win for Richard, Jürgen was not at his best (DC-ties always leave their marks), but the stats are breathtaking. In the first set Richard had 10 winners and zero (!) unforced errors, for the whole match it was a ratio of 24-9.

Seems as if Grosjean is excellent for him. :D

You know something is even more wrong when you lose two sets to Gasquet in a GS match in front of your homecrowd.

True, against Murray Gasquet's style works very well until he inevitably chokes it away.

Steve Tignor said on his blog that in practice session, he outplayed Berdych playing the same style very far from the baseline

Yeah, that was a horrible performance from Melzer and unlike his match against Benneteau it stayed like that for the whole match.

Let's not give credit to Grosjean too fast. This is one victory against a miserable Melzer. The first game I saw when I started watching the match Melzer managed to put a total of ONE ball inside the court, that was a second serve (followed by a wild backhand error).

Expected. Even in his decline, with many weaknesses in his game, Drugsquet is a better player than Mugzer. Looking forward to RG where this clown's points come off and he's out of top 20 for good.

Why does everyone always bring up the fact that Gasquet lost to Donald Young as some embarrassing thing, they have never played right? Young won because Gasquet withdrew with injury. This was at US open. Am I wrong? Did they actually play? Hope my memory is correct.

Huh? They never played, why would you think that's what I meant. I was referring to Murray's loss just the other day. Given that embarrassing loss, don't think Cabbage is in a position to make fun of anyone. That was the message ;)

Yes Oranges but let's be fair. As Cabbage pointed out:

Murray still won 9 games against a very good Young...

seriously he was really quite good in the first set. :D
