IW 3R WWW: R. Harrison vs M. RaonicLocoPorElTenis 03-14-2011, 07:03 AM Battle of the youngsters, the wildcards and the new North American hopes. Who wins? Vote and discuss. moon language 03-14-2011, 07:07 AM I'm inclined to say Milos in 2, but he does have some kind of back issue so who knows. Gabe32 03-14-2011, 07:35 AM Man I hope Harrison wins. By all accounts he is a great guy, has a nice all-around game and is American. Raonic has already had his breakthrough, so I am strongly pulling for Harrison. In reality however, Milos will win in 3. I say 3 because he is slightly injured, or else he would win in 2. locyka19 03-14-2011, 08:38 AM Since Agassi, Ryan can be one of the best returners. He hit several return winner. Hope he will catch some of those big bombs. jonathancrane 03-14-2011, 08:47 AM Milos in 2 jonathancrane 03-14-2011, 08:50 AM Since Agassi, Ryan can be one of the best returners. He hit several return winner. Hope he will catch some of those big bombs. Are you serious? locyka19 03-14-2011, 08:57 AM Are you serious? Because? Have you seen those points? If not then don't be sceptic. Satasonic 03-14-2011, 09:31 AM Raonic 6-3 6-4 or so. Injury= 6-3 7-6 or similar. Harrison doesnt have the weapons to hurt Raonic, he wont get a single break point in that match. madmax 03-14-2011, 09:45 AM Raonic in 2. Harrison has nothing to hurt Milos with StatRacket 03-14-2011, 11:23 AM Since Agassi, Ryan can be one of the best returners. He hit several return winner. Hope he will catch some of those big bombs. More so on the forehand side from what I've seen. He hit some awesome returns versus GGL today. Orka_n 03-14-2011, 11:26 AM Since Agassi, Ryan can be one of the best returners. What? He hit some great forehand returns yesterday, against GGL's second serve, but that's it. Not that special. About the match... probably Raonic in 2. But I would like to see a real fight here. ExcaliburII 03-14-2011, 11:28 AM Since Agassi, Ryan can be one of the best returners. He hit several return winner. Hope he will catch some of those big bombs. You probably watched him play against the weakest 2nd serve on tour. Of course Harrison is just average returner, not even close to the likes of Nalbandian or Agassi locyka19 03-14-2011, 12:11 PM You probably watched him play against the weakest 2nd serve on tour. Of course Harrison is just average returner, not even close to the likes of Nalbandian or Agassi I'm not saying he's already a great returner. I just pointed out, that I noticed some fantastic returns there. Okay, GGL may not be a big server, but Harrison returned really well against Soderling in Brisbane this year. aberdons 03-14-2011, 12:51 PM Depends of fitness, but Raonic has the game to cut points short so if he's aggressive and it's not affecting his swing too much I think he'll win in two locyka19 03-14-2011, 03:23 PM Raonic may win it, but Ryan will pull out a tight match for sure.He showed several time he's a fighter as Raonic says it in his interview as well. Sonja1989 03-14-2011, 03:26 PM Raonic will win. :( (Come on Ryan! :) ) kindling 03-14-2011, 03:32 PM Milos in 2 QUICK sets (if his back isn't really messed up)…. Harrison can't touch him. locyka19 03-14-2011, 03:36 PM Milos in 2 QUICK sets (if his back isn't really messed up)…. Harrison can't touch him. It's a lil bit strange that many americans rooting for raonic.Hope Ryan hit some sensational returns again. star 03-14-2011, 03:57 PM It's a lil bit strange that many americans rooting for raonic.Hope Ryan hit some sensational returns again. I take it that by "americans" you mean those living in the U.S. Well, why shouldn't we support him? Tennis is an international sport. Canada is a good neighbor and has the same language (almost :p ). We tend to like one another despite some sniping from time to time. If the Canadians can have a great player, that means North America has a great player. P.S. Raonic for the win, but I think Harrison might do better than some think against him. Certinfy 03-14-2011, 04:06 PM Raonic in 2. Seingeist 03-14-2011, 04:10 PM Win-win for me, it's great watching young rising players with guts and potential. I'll say Raonic in 2. Sapeod 03-14-2011, 04:37 PM I don't see how Harrison could win here. Everything he does well, Milos does better. Milos is bigger, stronger, more consistent, bigger strokes, bigger serve. He's going to destroy Harrison Milos, easily. No chance for Harrison unless Milos is very injured or if he retires... Filo V. 03-14-2011, 04:39 PM I think Ryan's going to win. Raonic's health will be a factor, the slow courts will be a factor, and Ryan's got the game to hang with him, plus the America factor will be major. Thinking a straight sets victory for the up-and-coming US hopeful. born_on_clay 03-14-2011, 04:44 PM Raonic in 2 Ackms421 03-14-2011, 04:48 PM Harrison in 3. He can do it if he plays well. kindling 03-14-2011, 04:58 PM It's a lil bit strange that many americans rooting for raonic.Hope Ryan hit some sensational returns again. I'm not "rooting" for Raonic, I just think the match will go his way. Harrison, with as much "american hope" they're slinging his way really just seems like an average player to me. Nadull_tard 03-14-2011, 05:21 PM The surface is in Ryan's favor, but Milos became a matured player so I'll go with him in 3 sets. samanosuke 03-14-2011, 05:25 PM winner's reward will be a match against goat . expect both guys nervous navy75 03-14-2011, 05:36 PM This will be a VERY interesting matchup. I don't think that Raonic will win as easily as some on here project. I actually see this going to a couple of tiebreakers, and who wins is anyone's guess. Raonic is certainly the favorite, but if given the right odds (i.e. 3-1 or greater) I wouldn't hesitate to throw a few bucks on Harrison here. Ackms421 03-14-2011, 05:40 PM I'm not "rooting" for Raonic, I just think the match will go his way. Harrison, with as much "american hope" they're slinging his way really just seems like an average player to me. I disagree. Querrey and Isner looked like top 20ish players when I saw them, but Ryan looks like more. He's more unique than the last group somehow. Blackbriar 03-14-2011, 06:00 PM Raonic always wins in 2, but never in straight. vn01 03-14-2011, 06:02 PM Raonic in 2. I'd like to see Harrison winning this, but Raonic is better now ;) JamesBlade 03-14-2011, 08:00 PM Raonic Elbarto 03-14-2011, 08:23 PM if Raonic is healthy ( no back injury or flu ) he might win in 2 sets, otherwise Harrison will win in 3 sets against a Raonic in poor health Sapeod 03-14-2011, 08:54 PM This will be a VERY interesting matchup. No, not really. Raonic, if healthy, will win easily in straights. If he is ill, he will win in two tight sets... Nothing interesting about it. Tenn1sAdd1ct 03-14-2011, 09:23 PM Raonic in 2. latso 03-14-2011, 09:55 PM I don't see how Harrison could win here. Everything he does well, Milos does better. Milos is bigger, stronger, more consistent, bigger strokes, bigger serve. He's going to destroy Harrison Milos, easily. No chance for Harrison unless Milos is very injured or if he retires... you could have written the exact same about Almagro - Montanes... Harrison in 3 Raonic as big fav with back pain... malisha 03-14-2011, 09:57 PM Harrison in 3 tight sets Vida 03-14-2011, 11:06 PM interesting times. they might have their own rivalry. harrison is more temperamental, maybe he will relax against someone who is, more or less, his generation. still, milos to win. jcempire 03-14-2011, 11:09 PM Raonic 6-2 6-0 Roamed 03-14-2011, 11:17 PM I hope Milos, I would love to see him play Fed in R4, if Roger beats Chela. Wouldn't mind who wins if that matchup happened! But it would be great for Ryan to reach R4 of a Masters event. Should be a nice result either way I guess :) MB. 03-15-2011, 12:19 AM Ryans playing well, but not well enough to beat Milos. sagroove 03-15-2011, 02:40 AM Ryans playing well, but not well enough to beat Milos. You never know! C'mon Ryan lets do this! tennisgolfguru 03-15-2011, 03:59 AM Asuming Raonic is physically OK, he wins in 2 sets - Ryan has nothing at this point to hurt him whatsoever. tennishero 03-15-2011, 04:38 AM the ballbashing acemachine will win unfortunately shiaben 03-15-2011, 05:18 AM I want to see Raonic vs Del Potro sometime :), would be interesting, me thinks. tennisgolfguru 03-15-2011, 08:19 AM I want to see Raonic vs Del Potro sometime :), would be interesting, me thinks. Yeah me too - would love to see that match ... locyka19 03-15-2011, 08:45 AM Unfortunately the favorite for the match is raonic. Hopefuly Ryan will fight. jcempire 03-15-2011, 01:28 PM Unfortunately the favorite for the match is raonic. Hopefuly Ryan will fight. yes, I agree. Hope a Good match..... Raonic is way better.........maybe 6-2 6-1 navy75 03-16-2011, 01:58 AM LOL. As usual, the MTF brain trust was at it again. I PM'd several of the people who said that Raonic would win easily to try to get odds (I offered better than the sportsbooks had it), and of course they all refused. Anyone saying that Raonic would win handily had obviously never seen Harrison serve and had completely ignored the junior records between the two. Either that or they were on drugs or delusional fanboys. YouCantBeSerious 03-16-2011, 02:05 AM Their junior records had nothing to do with it. Over 22 unforced errors with the forehand played a big part. Credit to Ryan he's talented, aggressive and scrappy but Milos' level of play dropped off today and he still almost won. Federer's forehand will be far less generous. | |
