Not a bad match but Gasquet really should consider playing near the baseline. He usually spins the ball but he isn't able to take advantage of it by playing aggressively.

Gasquet played pretty well for the 3 games I saw him, seemed pretty confident in his serve. Maybe Gasquet can get some good tips on Melzer from Benneteau (should Melzer win)

Cuevas played well in the 1st set but got broken while seving to stay in the 1st set.
Good solid match from Gasquet but he has to stop playing 10 ft behind the baseline!!

Allez Gasquet!! :yeah:

:yeah: Benny/Melzer is beatable too.

As for court positioning, old story, I blame Deblicker for introducing that piece of ingenious strategy. Has no business being way behind the baseline, among other things, it exposes that FH far more.

slow start from Richard, stepped it up towards the end of the first set, he forced BH errors from Cuevas, but scored no BH winner himself , surprisingly 6 FH winners and quite convincing serving. Opposition was not great, though.

Cuevas served well the first set and just choked at the end and got broken.

Richie did what he has to, solid performence, not that impressive but good job, overall.

Gasquet is definitely the better HC player, so his win is not surprising. But Cuevas seemed to have put a lot fight
