No thread yet but I suppose there's not much to say.

Nadal only served at 47% but won 16/16 when it went it.

Nadal plays Sweeting or Monaco (27) in round 3.

just saw the match. south african was was very shaky out there tonight. couldnt offer any resistance at all.

a bit hard to guage nadal`s level at the moment. i would say he has work to do.

he was not fluid in his movement and the serve is off.

That has only ever happened a few times, and it's never had anything to do with a decline in fan support that I can think of. It's almost always due to conflict between local government and the franchises over upgrades to the arenas.

Nadal owns Clownga anyway. Last year he was in a slump and still thrashed Clownga 6-3 6-2. If they met today, Nadal has more confidence, better serve, he'd win even easier. Clownga got lucky in 2008 AO and Nadal schooled him again and again after that encounter. Those who thought the overrated Frenchman stood a chance against Nadal are seriously delusional.

I know the Nadulltards don't care about tennis, but one of the reasons given for putting byes in masters events was that it would eliminate clown beatdowns by top players, ensure more interesting matches/upsets, and make what is in theory the most difficult draws out of any tournaments even tougher on the best players.

The fact that Nadull can get to the 4th round (possibly qf/sf) playing mediocre challenger players is an expose of a far wider problem in tennis. That this can happen (and repeatedly) in an era that is supposed to be the deepest ever and the most international with massive technological and physical science/nutrition advances shows this to be a huge mug era. Why that is can be debated, but it's obvious that masters series events are completely worthless when tennis doesn't even have enough ATP level players to fill an entire draw even with byes.

The fact that Ljubo won this and Roddick made IW/Miami finals last year is appropriate, because I see no difference between ATP 500 and Masters series at this point beyond the massive points inflation in MS and they should be contested by 2nd and 3rd tier players.

Lump 4 top players in one half, lump 2 top players in the other half.:oTo irrationally add no-form Del Potro to the top 5 here makes no sense at all. There are several players in the draw that could beat Delpo right now.
Furthermore, and I suspect you know this already: Soderling, Delpo and Murray were all in the same quarter. Which means that Nadal would only have to play one of them anyway - and in the semis at that. So Rafa's draw was obviously good from the beginning.

No wonder the weak-era theory gains more adepts each day. with mugs like these playing guys with a clownish playing-style like nadull is proof enough. it's hard to think what will happen to tennis when you look at the guys who are the top now. ballbashers, moonballers and unidimensionality all around. huge mugs. i repeat: huge mugs all around.

Federer had Brian Dabul & Andreas Beck & Mathieu at the last US Open. 3 straight rounds against players ranked at around 100 or above none of whom opposed any visible resistance.

I don't recall you complaining then.

You should arrange to hit with some of these players you call mugs to see what it is like to play tennis and then see if you call them mugs to their face.
