 I'll be glad to use your credentials for you. :p

I'm going. First time I've gone to River Oaks for tennis. It's a long drive to Houston, but I can stay with friends who only about 10 to 15 minutes from the tournament.

How is Dmitrov on clay?

Don't bad, but the clay isn't his favourite.

Grigor is a good clay court player. However the courts at Houston are very slow so I'm not sure he'll enjoy playing there too much.

I expect big runs from the clay courters and I think Fish will do well here. I think Pablo has a great shot at winning his first title here.

How is Dmitrov on clay?

when he was a junior he said clay and grass are his fav. now he says hardcourts are fav.

in fact he is grown on clay and played a lot of years on clay, but his game now suits hardcourts better.

has a CH title last year on clay as well.

yes, Hewitt withdrew from the Houston, but Hewitt said that he would return before Roland Garros, and it can be at any time since the tournament in Barcelona or Munich

Andy Roddick lost in the second round of the Miami Masters today. Apparently he was sick and had some sort of injury, but since I'm a fan of his this loss is extremely frustrating, especially since now he might drop from #8 in the world all the way down to #15. According to his website, after Miami the next tournament he was scheduled to play in was the Madrid Masters, which is all the way in May. If he gets his sickness/injury sorted out, do you think he might take a wild-card and play in Houston? I think it'd be a great chance to earn some extra ranking points.

Yes, Chela is OUT
What's the reason?

Filo V.
03-31-2011, 01:03 AM
Chela was one of the only legitimate clay players in any sort of form. And with Fish and Anderson doing deep runs in Miami their preparations will not be great for clay. Igor did a great schedule to come to Houston instead of Casablanca, I can see him winning here. He and Cuevas are major favorites. Mardy will be a favorite too if he's in the shape to play.

Dabul just retired in a challenger in Colombia today in the first set tiebreak so I wouldn't be surprised to see a withdrawal from him here.

Some players are training in Houston. I don't think he plays here because all three WC got others.

Anyone know the deal with the Red clay they are using -- is it a version of Har-Tru? Also, does anyone know what they used all those years (1931) when they held the exhibition event. Was it the same clay they are using now or hard courts or what?
