I guess Granollers has nice chance for good result in this tournament. If he plays good maybe he can play semifinal or final.
Wawrinka surprise for me, maybe he will ask WC.
Benneteau what does do here?

I need a few withdrawals so Bjorn gets in. Then I need Bjorn to make the QFs at least. Also I hope RRH, Pippo, Dudi, Gil and Serra do well here.

As of now, the seeds will be Simon, Baghdatis, Montanes and Mayer. I wouldn't be surprised to see Simon withdraw here. Hopefully JCF does actually play.

Unfortunately Golubev will be seeded 4 and Mayer at 5 which means no bye and probably quite a tough match in the quarters (but Baghdatis would be nice ;) ).
But maybe Simon withdraws because he's in the quarters @ Miami (hopefully not going any furhter :scared:) and plays his QF on Thursday which means he has to get to Casablanca very quickly + jetlag + 1st clay tournament for a while (I know he played DC on indoor clay) so probably withdrawing would be best for him ;)

Oh yeah, they are using the current rankings going into Miami, not the updated rankings. Currently Mayer is ahead of Golubev. Anyway, Flo is a better clay courter than Baghdatis and at least equal to Simon and Golubev. Golubev gets most of his results indoors. Montanes hasn't had a great season either and just retired in Miami to Flo. So if Flo is fresh I don't think the 5 seed will hurt him too much. But yeah, I think that withdrawing is something Gilles definitely will look in to.

Golubev gets most of his results indoors.

Ahem, Golubev's biggest career achievement so far was winning the ATP 500 tournament in Hamburg last year, which is played outdoors on clay ;)
But you're right, his current form is not as good as Mayer's, although Golubev won their last meeting in Indian Wells 3 weeks ago.

Hamburg is played in a somewhat controlled outdoor environment with a roof, so it's not like a true outdoor event.

Since when does Hamburg have a roof?

Since when does Hamburg have a roof?

I don't know, but they had a roof in 2010.
For example after the 1st set of Ferrero vs Mayer (QF; Ferrero won 1st set) they closed the roof and then Mayer went on to win in 3.

Hamburg is played in a stadium, that has a retractable roof.

Simone and Pippo are in. Hopefully they both do well here, especially Simone. Also hope Bjorn and RRH do well here.

I expect Andujar to perform well here, and a surprising good run also for Serra. Chardy and Potito also should do well here. I'm not sold on Albert performing well, his fitness is in question. This tournament is perfect place for some of these guys to kickstart their seasons.

I don't think Simon will w/o. He has a bye and won't play until thurs, the stiff neck will past by then, hopefully. And I think he wants to get some clay matches in before Monte Carlo. He's from Nice, very close to Monte Carlo. He always want to do well in MC but never did when he started his clay season there. So I really think he picks Casablanca this season to get himself ready for Monte Carlo. But that's my guess.
