I made a thread similar to this.

I really hope they do, but I highly doubt it. Fed is no longer a guarantee to make it past the QF. And when Nadal isn't dominating a tournament he has a catastrophic injury. It's a shame, their last 2 meetings in slams were amazing.

Yes, Wimbledon is very likely unless Djokovic is ranked ahead of Roger and they play in semis instead. Who would be favoured to beat either half of Fedal on grass?

If not this year's Wimbledon, then probably never.

Federer first has to get past the semi-finals for that to happen. It's become a problem for him, you know.

On the other hand, you were barely born last time he lost before the quarters of a slam...

That's what I like to see, fans of the GOAT gloating about his results prior to the QF's of grand slams. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

nobody knows : who would have predicted that Sampras and Agassi would meet in USO 2002 final ?

and see here : only one of them is old, the other one is young, at the best age for tennis.

Who would have guessed that Rosewall would reach the final in Wimbledon 1974 ? he was 40 years old

And Connors in the SF of the US Open 1991

well with 18 finals in 19 consecutive grand slams from Wimbledon 2005 to AO 2010 (23 consecutive semifinals from Wimb 2004), we've been quite sated, you know

2 years and a half without a slam final between AO 08 and USO 2010 for Nole I would never have guessed in 2008 it would be so long

Nole had always been in GS's semifinals between RG 2007 and RG 2008 : 5 consecutive tournaments, and then

That must have been hurting ;)

In the beginning of 2008 I would also never have guessed that Olderer would still be ahead of Djokovic in the rankings 3 years later and would only have left him a few weeks at number 2

I don't know if Federer will play Nadal in a grand slam final but there is an important remark :

if Nadal or Federer leave the top 2 ( Federer too old, Nadal injured during the clay season, Djoko on fire ) then this will increase the probability of a meeting in grand slam, they can play each other much sooner in the draw ( from quarters and not only the final )

Sensible post here.

The chances of that happening by the end of next year are pretty high. The value of their rivalry won't go down however, in terms of viewership. In fact, it might even go higher.

No more Federer-Nadal finals please, even at Wimbledon. Federer has no chance even on grass. Nadal-Federer finals are the equivalent of a charity donation by Federer. The Swiss never shows up and he just hands Nadal yet another major.

I think Federer still has chance against Nadal specially on grass or hard. IF he reaches final.

LawrenceOfTennis, me too. :D Really missing that time when they played lot of final against each other. I'm very happy for RG final. :woohoo:

What . In his prime Federer nearly lost against Nadal at Wimbledon in 2007. Nadal has won 8 out of the last 10 matches against Federer so why you would want to see Federer getting mauled again is beyond me. On sunday it will be 17-8 Nadal. This is not a rivalry it is a domination.

I don't know how I missed it you are a Nadal fan. I should have known, no neutral tennis fan in their right mind would enjoy watching Federer getting destroyed by Nadal again.

Nadal never destroyed him at Wimbledon. One match what he won was five setter. (9-7)
