Is this a joke? Would be good news if Kei actually fixed this match rather than tried and lost.

:confused:What is with you, Kei?

Smart move if gets that LL , though not very sportsmanlike.

There is a LL slot in the MD, but you'd hope that he wasn't already aware (if he got the slot) before this match.

It is drawn by lot isn't it?

Monfils withdrew so Kei tanked this match (he's top-seed in qualies)

he pulled an Alves

It was likely to be a short week for him anyway. His only real chance of progressing to R2 was to draw Sela.

Not happy with this. Tank, playing badly, anything. Not happy.. I hope it wasn't a tank. Winning is a habit, one that Kei should be mature enough to know doesn't come by tanking.

Monfils withdrew before qualis began, so no LL for him, but an alternate (Lacko).
If he did tank on purpose, it was probably because Fish is going to withdraw.

Jan got revenge for his loss to Nishikori last week. I hope he keeps it up!

Yep, my bad.

If he did tank on purpose, it was probably because Fish is going to withdraw.

Fish's thyroid problem is known, but there has been no news recently to suggest that he is considering pulling out. Just because he pulled out of San José doesn't mean that he will pull out of Memphis...

If Kei don't gonna have LL that defeat gonna be or already is pathetic.

He doesn't have the LL atm, anyone who saw his 3rd set vs Smycek wouldn't be too shocked.

I wish Nishikori had more talent. Japan is an untapped market of tennis potential. I have done studies on the Japanese psyche and way of life. Tennis as it is now, has great potential to be a major sport there. It fits more with their ideals than baseball or football. What Japan needs is a spark. Nishikori may have been that prior to injury but now he is maybe a top 70 player. That will not excite a country.

Tennis wins, though it would be far from surprising if Nishikori makes MD.

Surely he didn't tank. He is the better player of the 2.

I can only hope he knows something we don't and has pulled an Alves.

Though I recall it didn't do Alves any bloody good when he did it.

You can't call it wasted potential unless the player in question actually has the potential to be a success. Nishikori doesn't.

Does winning an ATP main tour title not count as success?
