Rotterdam QF: Troicki def. Cilic 7-5 6-3

King of lost thing strikes again . Troicki was awful and except winning first set 6-1 Marin succeed to lose it 7-5 . Even Viki becoming a man playing with Cilic . Cilic definitely deserves Stefan Edberg award . Neither one player doesn't helping other guys to improve their carriers so much like Marin does all the time

On the other side watching all this you have to feel sorry for guys like Mike Russell . He is loosing all these unloseable things and with just little more luck with draws his carrier could gone in completely opposite direction . These days everyone gets a chance to improve mentality playing with Cilic excepts poor Mike . That is a bad luck

incredible how many aces on break points from Troicki

it really got on Cilic's nerves which have been fragile for a while as we know

Troicki confirms he's improving on those kinds of courts, on clay it will be different.

all those aces on break points Cilic is not responsible for that

Troicki is like that : first serve percentage is usually not good but when he hits it, it's often an ace, and today it was everytime in clutch moments.

After that, yes, Cilic had his usual losing mentality on his own serve, everytime losing confidence

Pathetic display from Marin. Up 3-1 first set and few break points to go up 4-1 instead he looses 7-5

Thumps up for the thread. This Cilic is extremely retarded as a person and a bad tennis player.

incredible how many aces on break points from Troicki

This, his serve really saved him many times :) Started very poorly, but played better later on, too bad for Marin, he played some great points, not really sure how he lost this.

Completely expected result.

I don't know how you did that considering the beginning of the match and their H2H past : Troicki would not have hit these aces in first set, I think the match would still be going on.

Troicki got better with time though and showed his improvements.

Viktor saved 9 out of 10 BPs while Cilic was 3 of 6. Troicki served big on BPs. It looked to me half of his 11 aces came on BPs.

Marin really became a joke. I don't know what's going on with him, he has the game obviously, being up 3-1 + break points, he could've won this match, but something in his head went seriously wrong, and it happens often lately.

in the beginning there were all these aces and the first de-break from Troicki was a little bit lucky imo, until 6-5 I don't think Cilic has much to reproach but after that yes, he was horribly attracted by loss

The most confusing thing with Cilic for me is if he can't improve technique of shots or change a mentality why he doesn't try to get few kilos of muscles . It clearly to everyone that he must change something except him . But that's our Marin . We all have to be happy that he is with us

don't agree

Even when he was at his " peak " he was loosing and choking close sets and matches . Mentality was never really there

His only hope is changing the coach . With this I don't want to tell that Bob is a bad coach or his work is wrong but Cilic has to change something . Needs some positive shock or some other look on the game than Brett is giving to him . Just something new and fresh , anything different

with this win Troicki enters top-20 : provisional number 19 :yeah:

he was not bad mentally in Melbourne in 2010

anyway it's mental even if his small error-margin technique is partly responsible for that

This
Cilic has an awful serve for someone as tall as he is (Goran must be facepalming all over the place) and if he cannot put a first serve in, he's absolutely toast, his second serve is laughable
Troicki didn't really have to do anything special, just serve well and wait for the inevitable self-destruction of the Croat :o

You must be joking, one of the best second serves around and the main reason why consistently low 1st serve percentages never posed as many problems to him as it normally would.

yes Cilic have a poor flat serve but kis kick and slice serve used to be very good...expecially big kick second serve which sets up points nicely

Cilic sholud play a challenger or two to win some tennis matches

dont think thats the case....Brett was a part timer when he was in top 10 so nothings changed

Cilic was always progressing slowly through the rankings...there wasnt huge jumps or letdowns before so he needs consistency of good results even if its a Challanger

he was winning clay challengers when he was a kid...now hes considered a "clay mug"

Cilic lost something that was very hard to lose; should have been a double break up in the first, gets broken after *30-0; add to this that Troicki is probably the luckiest player on the ATP tour, insane how many net cords and lines he hit in crucial moments;

With his serve motion Cilic will never ever achieve great things, he will have to change it 100%, such a tall guy and such a bad serve, plus he will probably end up like an invalid hurting his back badly...

Stupid loss

Cilic seems keen to be part of the group of highly talented players who either through lack of mental toughness or correct application of the talent to consistently deliver top level performances.

yes I remember a match against Mathieu in Wimbledon.

Mathieu was in good form actually and had beaten good players before but he had terrible difficulties to return Cilic's second serve

HAHA yeah sais the guy who thinks Dimitrov will hit the tour like a meteorid.
This guy is already 20cand didn´t come close to Cilic´s achievement yet, even Cilic achieved more than Dimitrov at age 19, 20.
The guy is just another overhyped mug, time will proove it.
