That was a perfect match from Milos. Start to finish. Even when he missed 1st serves he was in no real trouble of getting broken.

Onto the next opponent.

James Blake

Malisse was not good but still, Raonic made that look pretty routine, which is impressive in itself - guy has come from Australia to the West Coast of the USA via South Africa, I'm surprised he knows what day it is.

First serve was letting him down a bit today.. not getting a lot of them in, and had some double faults. Netplay still needs some work. Forehand is good. Backhand also needs some more work, though he did actually hit a backhand winner today:eek:

Anyway, he needs to up his level if he wants to win against Blake. Hopefully his first serve will be better.

James Blake

He is lucky he has such s trong second serve, because his first serve was definitely letting him down today.

Well played Miloš, Ričardas as well! Looks like we might get Raonič-Berankis QF, the match I was dreaming (not just me) for AO R4.

James Blake

That was far from a perfect match, it was more like Malisse having 1 weak service game in each set. Milos made so many silly errors, hit like 15 easy balls into the net and was awful at volleying. But he played well when it was important. His serve was perfect. I hope his overall game gets better in the following rounds.

Very nice showing from Milos, looked pretty routine from what I saw. His fourth top 50 win of the year, good stuff

Backhand also needs some more work, though he did actually hit a backhand winner today:eek:

I had seen him hit backhand winners against Ferrer, which is not something easy.

I had also read that it was his weakness but was surprised about it : he has some abilities on this side too.

Milos hit 20 aces around 145m/h but 3DF, save 1 MP, in all, not bad but will improve on time with mouvements and BH. Nice prospect.

what's scary is Milos has such an easy motion when he fills out in his upper body in a couple of years his 1st serve speeds could reach 160+

Raonic is an amazing prospect. His serve will be crazy in a few years. He could be a more powerful played than Soderling.

Top 10 definitely in the next year or two. Top 3 definitely in his career.

No, it wasn't:confused: He seemed to be struggling getting it in today. The commentators commentated on it as well. His second serve rescued him today. He needs to play much better than than against Blake and potentially Berankis if he wants to win.

And the bandwagon rolls on:spit:

Uhm, no.. he won't. He'll be Top 50 if he keeps playing well. I expect a let down though, and he's way too inconsistent yet. I see him maybe at around 60-70 at the end of the year.

Bandwagon?
I've supported Raonic ever since I saw him against Gonzalez in 2009.
I'm not bandwagoning, I knew he had all this potential.
Uhm, no.. he won't.

No.

Top 20 is a good goal for him. He's already near the top 20 in the race, if he keeps up the good work and form, he will be top 20 by the end of the year/beginning of next year.

How old is Milos? Is he one of those  all serve players?

Milos turned 20 last december. He is not only an ace server. He has pretty good forehand as well. All work in progress. He could not have beaten Llodra, Youznhy and all at the AO with only aces.
He keeps his mind set, not panicking, which is a good sign.

He turned 20 right at the end of 2010

Some people would say he's all serve, but he has a nice FH, and can volley pretty well at times, his RoS, BH and movement needs a little work but he's vastly improved that over the past year so I see no reason why he won't keep improving it if he keeps working on it, and he has time to work on it as he's still young so it will most definately get better. He has loads more potential than Isner or Karlovic and has much more of an all around game then them too

The best part of his game is his attitude and his calm demeanor. Maybe next year, he'll do the pre-tournament exho with Sampras, it would be neat to see them on the court together.

Okay I'm going to have to stop you here before you embarrass yourself further. Storm Lee is on the money on his predictions. Have you even seen Milos play before, i concur that it is highly unlikely. Milos WILL be a top 20 player by the ned of the year. he's no Dimitrov but he's very Good. His serve is Huge (biggest on tour right now) and that immediately makes him intimidating as well as the fact that he is lethal of both the forehand wing and the BACKHAND side. He is a very powerful player and when the opportunity presents itself he can show some flair (surprising goo feel at the net, can slice and ice when needed). He is also VERY mentally strong and doesn't get phased easily. At this young age he keeps winning and is almost the complete package. The comparisons with POO are merited and i see a VERY bright future SOON. Today he didn't even need to play well to beat one of the biggest talents in the top 100 and one of the biggest underachievers of the decade.

I'm on the BW as well. Got a problem?, i hope not :)

Milos :worship::worship:

James will be very tough. What a treat that match will be.

only thing stopping raonic from top 30 by year's end are the knees. hopefully those issues are behind him.
