Decent performance after being down *5-4 in set one from James. James dominated most of the match but Jesse played some good tennis to get the break. James was ultra inconsistent, and his movement isn't quite as sharp as it used to be, but this is his first match and match win since October, and for that, it was an OK performance.

Not really much resistance from Levine there, but helps James get slowly on his way back, so no problems there.

I think Blake thinks as usual he gets on the right track because doesn't want to accept that his opponent was very weak. Levine was lazy and slow as 40 year-old player.

Levine injured his knee, actually, he seemed to come into the match injured, and aggravated it in the middle of the first set. He looked like 2008 Nadal with the long pants and knee tape.

what do you guys think about blake's knee? Is he on his way out this year or did he look healthy.

Too early to call. Also, not an opponent on the other side of the net worth making serious deliberations on. Malisse/Raonic winner will be the true test. And even then, it's his first event back.

He looked healthy and got better as the match went on, just not quite as spy afoot as he used to be. His explosive shots are still there.

It'll be interesting to see how James does for the rest of the tournament. If I'm not mistaken Blake had break points on all four of the first Levine service games, and didn't break once until down 4-5*. Blake's shots and accuracy when he is ahead are fantastic, but historically he tends to spray shots much more when the matches get close.

Certainly a solid performance for his very first match of 2011...

He may have, navy. He had like 5 failed break point opportunities before taking back to back serve games, I think it may have been three out of the four serve games. Jesse only won 53% of serve points in set one and won less than 60% ahead *5-4. You're also right, as soon as he got it back even, he just rolled with the momentum, that's something James does really feel, feeds off positive energy and play. I'll be interested to see him against an ATP quality player next round.

I suppose he is chance-less either Raonic or Malisse.

Excuse me?. James is a fighter and will always have a chance regardless of who he plays. Both will be tough but James will come through. Good to see James taking out these pitiful American players. A legendary player who in my humble opionion deserves a HUGE ceremony for when he retires in NYC.

Here we go again, another comeback for Lames.... Let's hope he continues to take wildcards from deserving youngsters, and get thrashed!
