Would they give Ginepri a WC if he's ready to start playing? I've heard nothing about when he's coming back, but I would think, unless he incurred another major injury, that he'd be playing at least by March...

Maybe Raonic will prefer resting and asking a wild-card for Miami, as after these exhausting weeks, he has to play two weeks on clay in Mexico (Acapulco+Davis cup).
Maybe it's time for a little rest, all the more as he should not be seeded then he should play first round in Indian Wells.

Oh no, Ferrero!!!
When he can return?

As "bunny" (I think it's her pseudo) had noted somewhere, Ferrero needed to miss Indian Wells to get a protected ranking for the next months and esp to be able to enter directly the MS1000 tournaments on clay.

Then maybe he will just be back for Miami or for clay season.

No don't worry, he has hernia just before the Cd, but it disappears just after and he can play again. He will probably have another injury just after Wimbledon too but it won't last more than one week :o

navy75
03-01-2011, 05:26 AM
Overall I think Indian Wells did a really good job with their WC selection. You could argue that perhaps another American youngster like Jack Sock would draw more than say Tomic will, but being a Master's Series event I think that you have to award on overall talent regardless of nationality.

I think that they also made a wise call regarding Philippoussis, as giving him a main draw WC to an event of this prestige in his first tourney back would have been going too far, while a qualifying WC rewards his comeback while also drawing greater attention to the preliminary matches.

"Since the start of the season I (Tsonga)'ve had a hernia problem,"

"I will have to see how the injury responds to treatment and based on that maybe I will need to have an operation," he said.

"But that would put me out of action for two to three months."
Don't know if there's any further info about his condition.

Blackbriar
03-01-2011, 08:15 PM
no he will play IW sure, but thereafter he may make surgery, but more probably after Miami, during clay season. Verdasco too has to make a break for a surgical treatment but he will wait for grass season i think.

nalbyfan

Nalby could have a hernia surgery after DC tie too. It's not sure but he could miss all clay season and be back on grass like Tsonga who have the same problem (hernia)

Jack Sock would have taken the championship without losing a set. That's why they're keeping him on the outside. The tennis world isn't ready for him yet.

Ljubicic doesn't play for davis cup team anymore (been like that last few years, only exception was last year's quarterfinal).

As for Dodig i think he decided to get a bit of rest since he played many tournaments this year and also travelled around (after Chennai/Australia went to Europe and after that to USA and now was back to Europe for DC) so he pulled out already before DC.

Hope he will play Miami when he gets a breather.
