LOL, ferrer will not beat nadal in another hardcourt slam. That was a fluke win.

I gues i could POSSIBLY see ferrer taking a set off of nadal, but most likely not. Nadal will straight set this pretender.

This victory was long time ago and Ferrer probably had his best season in 2007 when he also beat Rafa at the Masters Cup a few weeks later. Since then he only won one set against Rafa on clay and not a single one on HC.

Nadal is a beast in a best of 5 match and always gets stronger the further the tournament goes.

Only one player left that can realistically take out Nadal and that is Murray. Knowing Nadal's luck Murray will probably either lose to Dolgopolov or win in a close 6 hour match leaving him drained for the semi.

Neither Djokovic nor Federer are likely to take out Nadal in an eventual final.

Pics has been playing consistent stuff with very few unforced errors. Nadal can win in straights but he'll need to play well throughout the match. I don't see it happening quite this way so I think Pics can win a set.

Nevertheless, Nadal said he feels fit now so ~95% chance he will prevail in my opinion.

all i can say is, this is not gonna look good for the winner of murray/dolgopov, and whoever makes it to the finals on the other side of the draw. nadal was able to get into a rhythym with cilic, and now he gets another grinder. Nadal is gonna be ****** face from here onwards.

Nadal in 3, 6-4 7-6 6-4.

Then, i predict nadal steamrolling through the semis and making a final berth. If its chokovic on the other side, i see a straight set victory for nadal, and if its federer (either jesusfed, stubboner, chokerer, olderer, finesserer), i see nadal prevailing in 4 sets.

Nadal might become the first man in history to win 5 in a row imo (thats correct right?)

easy there spartan. One set at a time :) The good thing is that the Murray match is 4 days away. SOme more time to recover. On current form I think Murray is the favorite to win this title. But we shall see. I am more encouraged about Rafa's health situation after this win but cant be sure. Someone posted that Rafa was vamosing in this match with his patented knee in the air pose. Thats a good sign that he has some excess energy. Will watch the replay to confirm that.

Murray will be tough. Rafa was playing really well last year I thought. oh well. One set at a time. :)

look mate, im not a rafanuthugger or rafatard as you guys say here. I just speak the truth. Nadals prime right now is reminding me of federers prime years (2004-2007), he is literally rolling through the competition.

Sickness? Fever? Tell me when was the last time michael jordan folded in a big time game when he was sick or had a fever? Nadal is a fucking warrior, similar to michael jordan (obviously MJ is way the fuck >>>>>> Nadal), but nadal does not let these small things phase him. Only one person stands between nadal and 5 slams in a row (wimbledons too far, nadal might hurt his knees ) and that man is Andy Murray. I cant wait to watch that match. Nadal is literallly going to salvage that moment because he knows, once he reaches the finals, put god on the other side and Nadal still will prevail.

I just hope that if nadal DOES INDEED make the final, that it is somewhat competative. Fucking hate straigth set finals (the uso final was basically a straight set. Chokovic got lucky in one set).

horse shit and you know it swish.

nadal is every bit as great an athlete as the world has ever known.

tennis at the highest level is far more athletic that basketball. its not even close.

guys like nastase, borg, johnny mac, sampras, fed, and nadal could have mastered any sport out there if they had so chosen very early on.

dont mistake a little air and stuffing the basketball by giants as the true measure of a great athlete.

what the top tennis pro has to do on the court to be the best is a lot more difficult and requires far more greater athletic ability.

LMFAO, are you saying Nadal as good of an athlete as michael jordan? I don't think so. Cant say much about tennis athletic/difficulty/athletic ability because i have not played it at a high level, but i was a college basketball player, and it is indeed very physical and requires tremendous athletic ability.

Michael jordan and lebron james would excel in most athletic sports (american football, soccer, etc). Fed and nadal would probably excel in most too, except american football (Tennis players are too pussy to play american football).

There are more people vote for Ferrer in 5 than Nadal in 5. Seriously? I found it amusing as Nadal has the best 5th set record on tour.
If it gets to 5th set, its all Nadal. Any player can only has chance to beat Nadal in straight sets or 4 sets.

Its disgusting to see some guys who think Ferrer is just some trash when he plays Rafa. The way David gets put down shows utter ignorance on the part of many people. Let em tell you something about Ferrer. He is the BEST returner in the game today. Particular emphasis on "BEST" rather than "one of the best". Nobody could have returned the serve of that Raonic dude the way Ferrer did breaking him so many times. You had to see that match to watch missiles being returned by this guy. Some returns were breathtaking.

One thing I will say about this match. Ferrer will be his consistent self and not spray too many errors. If Rafa keeps making too many unforced errors as we have seen him do then he will be in for a long night. Rafa will have to produce great winners - one after another to down Ferrer. If Ferrer had mor epower on his shots he would be more dangerous than Murray but he is all about accuracy. So Rafa needs to be very careful and not be thinking about the semifinal. Ferrer has been undefeated in 2011 so far winning in Auckland.

I am rooting hard for a Rafa slam and hope it happens. But I am wise to know that just because Ferrer is not as big a threat as Murray doesnt make him a walkover either. Rafa is going to sweat it out at Rod Laver tonight. I think he wins it but Ferrer will take something out of him.

Some frightening statistics to keep in mind:

-Ferru is on an 8 match winning streak having won the Auckland title the week before the AO.
-Ferru has only lost 2 sets in 4 matches.

I am worried that Ferru may be in too much in a groove against Rafa, especially given the fact Rafa is still probably weak from the flu.

With that said, Rafa in str8ts.

manequin, nadal will attack ferrer's forehand corner.......ferru likes moving to hs left and hit inside out forehands.......we know that nadal's off forehand is firing but his down the line has to fire too for this to be a comfortable straight sets win........

look mate, im not a rafanuthugger or rafatard as you guys say here.

:p

 don't insult jordan...nadal is a boring version of rodman.

Tio Toni will not 'allow' Ferrer to stop Nadal from achieving his 10th slam title. Poor victim of circumstances, this Ferrer.

I just can't see what tactics within Ferrers capabilities is going to be effective against Nadal:confused:. If Ferrer somehow manages to take the first set, I still only give him a 5% chance winning the match.

Nadal to lose a maximum of 4 games in any set.
