Dolgo will do very well to win a set... but i don't see it happening
The Scot in 3.

I saw Murray in three. His form lately has been great. His play is too good right now. I'd be surprised if he lost to Dolgolopov.

Dolgolopov beat Tsonga and Soderling, next is Murray.

Dolgopolov is playing great but Murray won't gift him another match like Clownga and Soderling. Murray in three comfortable sets.

Murray in 3. He hasn't really looked in danger of dropping a set.

Dolgopolov gave me a great impression of the type of game he possesses.

He's got weapons that can hurt Murray (i.e. serve etc.) but like Murray he has some weaknesses.

Both men have accurate forehands without sufficient power.

I heard that Murray's fore hand has improved but I didn't see too much of the Melzer game given I'm watching the other match Ferru/Babyface.

Murray will defeat Dolgolopov given that the Ukrainian's forehand still needs some work. It's too defensive and sometimes he does this weird upper cut shot that goes long. He'll be spraying errors from that side more than his backhand I believe.

Murray in 4 sets.

Murray in 3 easy sets. Just like all his other matches.

I don't see anything to hurt him here.

Dolgo in 5 just to be different.

What I like about Dolgo is that he doesn't fade away (from what I've seen in this tournament). There's nothing more disappointing than a player who loses the first set and then just seems to give up. Really, unless you're playing Nadal and are two sets down, there's always a chance!

How is Dolog's physical state, did he look tired from Soderling?

He did.

ANd if Dolgo manage to put an stick in Murray's ass, I'll love so much.

The Murray bandwagon will be demoralized one more time.

And Nadalhaters will cry and scream about his cake draw.

Just watch it.

Hopefully Mugray in straights in 1 hour 30 minutes.

Knowing Nadull's luck this match will go to 23-21 in the 5th set after 7 hours of play. :o

But better than that would be Federina losing to Wava.

Dolgopolov defends exceptionally well but Murray is Mr. Push Pop an will push until the 2nd coming of Christ.

I want Murray to lose, because I basically want him to lose every match. On the other hand, I don't want him to lose, because of Nadal's draw opening to a ridiculous degree.

Seriously though, Murray will win. Everything Dolgo can do, Murray can do better.

A bit torn here really, two of my faves going mano-a-mano. If Andy was going to lose in this tournament I would want it to be here. I'd be disappointed, but incredibly delighted at the same time. Now that would be a strange feeling.

For now Dolgo shouldn't have it in him to win this match up. But hopefully will be close. Murray in 5.

nadulltards did you make that up? i guess you have too much free time too bad nadal will crush everything that stands in his way for you people to spend another few months trying to come up with new ways to belittle nadal and his fans.

Dolgopolov wins 1-6 6-4 6-2 RET.

Murray retires after all that brightness in front of him.

Interesting to see that Nadaltards want Dolgopolov to prevail because they fear Murray's game and Fedtards want Murray to prevail, presumably because they see Murray as the only realistic chance of beating Nadal... and Roger's record in GS finals vs Murray is much better than vs Nadal.

i don't want dolgopolov to win. Nadal will get a headache trying to pronounce his name and that will mess up his game.

It surely has to be Murray in 3?

I mean, Dolgopolov's game can trick those unintelligent baseliners (Soderling/Tsonga/Verdasco) but Murray will have too much variety and might even end up tricking Dolgopolov.

Might be a fun match to watch.

He is agile. He has a quirky little game and a sassy attitude. His name is Dolgopolov and he is the immediate future of men's tennis. MTF loves him. However, Murray's got some business to take care of. He'll be focused and pull this off in three sets.

does not matter who wins nadal will beat both easily.

This is great imput on who you think will win this match. Thanks. :yeah:

But on a serious note, Murray has been playing amazing tennis and the match will be in his hands for the most part. One advantage that Dolgopolov may have is that Murray may be overlooking him and anticipating a matchup in the semis with Rafa, but this is all hypothetical, who knows maybe Murray is focused on this match. Dolgo will not only have to play aggressively but also consistently and must really improve that 1st serve %, was around 50% vs Soderling. I'll be rooting for Dolgo, but realistically I have to predict Murray in 4.

Murray hasn't had to beat anyone yet, so its very hard to judge his form. His QF opponent will be the first player he faces with a great running forehand. Very hard to predict.

Murray has had a smooth, almost perfect ride so far. I think he will be a little surprised by Dolgo and perhaps drop serve a couple times or even lose a set but will eventually recover and win the match. Dolgo has already played 2 consecutive 5 setters so I don't know how much he has left.

Murray might prove too tough for Dolgopolov. And he looks by far the most focussed player among the top 5.

I think Murray will lose a set here.

I saw Dolgopolov quite calm and energetic in that 5th set against Soderling.

Should be fun to watch. ;)

I can't believe there is so much extreme hate toward both Nadal and Murray. Lets all just STFU, and let the guys do the playing.

I don't see this tension among Federer VS. Djokovic fans as much I do with this Nadal/Murray rivalry.

Lets allow the performances speak for themselves.

This might arguably be one of the greatest Australian Opens ever.

We have the possibility of seeing the best 4 candidates in the semifinals.

Federer, Djokovic, Murray, and Nadal.

These guys are 1 match away, hope no upsets because I want to see this happen for the first time.

Players winning back-to-back 5 setters rarely win their next match. Murray in 4. Although Lapentti won 4 5 setters on the way to the semi-finals in 1999.

With two matches away. The advancement of Murray and Nadal (if both were to make it to the next round, high likelihood) would mean that it would be the second time that Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, and Murray have reached the semifinals together at a slam. Last time it occurred at the U.S. Open 2008.

Dolgopolov is dangerous, but he's also looked pretty erratic in the last two matches. Murray isn't going to cough up tons of errors, so Dolgopolov can't afford to have the kind of wild swings in form that he had against Soderling. Gut feeling is that this is just a step too far for him at this point in time.
