Great that Raonic is doing well, liked him ever since I first saw him play last year :yeah:. Big serve and a nice, forward-moving aggressive game :)

Great game from Raonic. He show that he is not only serve and big forehand. He was solid in most rallies again Youzhny, his serve was again awesome. Comentators were comparing him to Isner and they said, he will be better and accomplished more than John. If he keep serving well he has maybe chance again Ferrer in next round.

Absolutely amazing from Raonic.

He won a new fan here today, that's for sure. Sad to see Misha out, and he wasn't at his best, but ALL credit to Raonic here. Really convincing, terrific tennis. Obviously has an excellent career ahead of him. Good head on his shoulders.

I noticed this too, very important for a youngster. Dropped serve a couple times but immediately regrouped almost every time to get the break back, no tantrums or smashed racquets or signs of spoiled frustration. Missed a match point but held it together and played intelligently and was patient and it paid off.

Incredible to think that at this time last year, I was thrilled that Milos was winning futures events in Korea. His rise has been incredible.

His composure was excellent in this match, against a top 10 player. He broke back twice in the second before taking it, and had no letdown at all when he lost the third.

No Canadian man has made an open era GS QF. The highest a Canadian has been ranked in the ATP is #41. If he can be consistent, Milos looks like he has everything he needs to surpass both those landmarks.

Raonic was as cool as he played against Lopez.
Hit 31 aces, 64 winners, 2 DF.
He has the fastest serve up to now:
230 km/h and leads for total of aces: 79
Will hit top 100 by that win.
He could improve his foot work but I love his composure. Just relax.
Next match he'll meet his opposite: the nervous Ferrer.
Can't wait.

Youzhny really was bad today. He just couldn't really figure out what he wanted to do.

This was the first time i've seen Raonic play. He served huge and raised his game when he needed to break. First serve is massive, 2nd serve is good too. Very big forehand when it isn't going into the net. Backhand leaves much to be desired. He goes into ballbasher mode when he could be playing a lot more tactically...but that is something that can improve. He has potential at net but has to work on his consistency up there....and he just needs to go to net a lot more period IMO because he won't be able to hit with a lot of guys. And especially needs to work on hitting on the run....he gets his racket on a lot of balls but hits too many into the net when stretched wide.

Q. Do they follow you also in Montenegro? Are you superstitious?

MILOS RAONIC: I'm quite superstitious. We'll probably have to talk about that.

In Montenegro, yeah, I have quite a big following. My uncle is vice president there after the separation of Montenegro. I have quite a bit of popularity there now with the tennis results, especially last summer after that big win over Nadal and Djokovic in the doubles in Canada.

I sort of have more recognition there and press through newspapers and on the TV channels, on the daily news and such...

Q. You mentioned before your uncle being the vice president. Of what?

MILOS RAONIC: Montenegro.

Q. The country?

Why do we have to discuss this? He's playing for Canada, so obviously that's where his home is. Sometimes it doesn't really matter where you were born. He moved to Canada with his family when he was three years old. He has lived in Canada most of his life, he grew up there. That's where his career is too.

Would be more fruitful to discuss his game or his matches than his nationality anyway.
