Oh well, GL next round Misha Boreas 01-20-2011, 04:39 AM If only Kavcic had focused on the game instead of arguing with the umpre throughout the match, losing concentration that way... KarlyM 01-20-2011, 04:42 AM http://bestsmileys.com/anxious/2.gif Keep going Colonel! :yeah: TMJordan 01-20-2011, 04:48 AM Raonic is so gonna beat him. Also Ilhan Kavcic Raonic Not a bad draw ;):worship: Goatzhny ihaaaaaaaaa:D HNCS 01-20-2011, 05:06 AM thank god for that....... Jomp1 01-20-2011, 05:09 AM Kavcic played his heart out, and was robbed at 1*-2 final set when Youhzny shot a ball well out on a gameball of Kavcic. Not that I think it would've made a difference of the outcome, but I was very impressed with how Kavcic handled big points throughout the game otherwise. Got too tired in the end. Nathaliia 01-20-2011, 05:55 AM Youzhny looked like he fell asleep there and had very big problems trying to wake up. Needed to shout to himself in the 5th set. Kavcic is one of those players who "don't go away" but the lenght of the match seemed to have defeated him, physically and mentally. It wasn't such a great match, silly errors from Youzhny there, doesn't bode well for the next round. madmax 01-20-2011, 05:58 AM taken to 5 sets by mighty hardcourt god Kavcic speaks volumes about colonel's form in this event Orka_n 01-20-2011, 06:00 AM Colonel :o shiaben 01-20-2011, 06:29 AM Youzhny will officially join my shit list with other notables i.e. Roddick, Fish, Baghdatis, Verdasco, Querrey, Davydenko, and others who have failed to make improvements, and seem to be heading downhill. straitup 01-20-2011, 06:43 AM Well, that was a rollercoaster...hope he regroups in time to beat Raonic habibko 01-20-2011, 08:42 AM having to go 5 isn't reassuring but Youzhny haven't been playing that great for a while now, just mostly beating the players he should beat, tweener was great though :worship: PLwa2ShUNNQ oranges 01-20-2011, 08:45 AM Tweener CC lob :worship: solowyn 01-20-2011, 08:57 AM having to go 5 isn't reassuring but Youzhny haven't been playing that great for a while now, just mostly beating the players he should beat, tweener was great though :worship: PLwa2ShUNNQ Misha :smoke: Didn't expect him to need 5 sets after the first 2, but oh well  Melekhin 01-20-2011, 09:09 AM after winning 2nd set with that brilliant point Misha fall asleep...... At least he survived Shirogane 01-20-2011, 09:14 AM :bounce: Certinfy 01-20-2011, 09:32 AM For some reason I really did expect this to be very close, nice one Kavcic :yeah: PoorMan'sDavy 01-20-2011, 03:07 PM Survive and advance - but don't do it the hard way Colonel! Certinfy 01-20-2011, 03:35 PM Best set point ever? *Jean* 01-20-2011, 04:21 PM That's a 63 61 61 win :p just a moment of absence for Mikhail, as often ;) Leo 01-20-2011, 05:14 PM Youzhny will officially join my shit list with other notables i.e. Roddick, Fish, Baghdatis, Verdasco, Querrey, Davydenko, and others who have failed to make improvements, and seem to be heading downhill. No, I don't think so. Youzhny is a very up and down player. He has hot and cold patches each year. I think what he has improved is how to be solid and steady and win when not at his best. That's what he did well in NY and did yesterday. There's a good chance he'll hit another hot streak of form after the Aussie during the Euro indoors/Middle East stretch - he's always been good that time of year. He's also typically hot in the end of the clay - grass court season. That's a 63 61 61 win :p just a moment of absence for Mikhail, as often ;) Yeah, it's pretty common for Misha to win the first two sets easily in a Slam, lose focus and drop the 3rd, and squeak out the 4th. I was nervous when he dropped the 4th but at least he shut the door fast in the 5th. Keep it up, Mish! Action Jackson 01-20-2011, 10:37 PM Classic Youzhny, he was never losing this and got to love the match result threads, never change their tone. Kavcic was very brave, sure he is limited and has a shit serve, but he is doing the best he can with that game. As for the rubbish call, there were a lot of them in this match. After the long game where Kavcic got broken at *1-2 in the 5th, where he was hitting 2nd serves for most of the game. The Colonel did what he needed to and Kavcic was mentally beaten. | |
