Poll: Who has the least physical strength out of the top mens players?

2003

Who do you think is the weakest out of the top players? Weakest as in slowest serve, slowest ground strokes and inability to hit the ball hard for winners without overcooking them or infact inability to hit the ball hard at all i.e WTA level groundstrokes?

Simon gets a lot of flak but he can hit the ball hard for winners as we saw against Federer.

Im going to go with Monfils. He looks strong but hes a pusher really.

Murray also lacks the ability to truely wallop the ball, he is just very strong and precise.

In other words whos a total pansy who you could snap like a twig?

Your picks?

Oooh this was actually an interesting idea for a thread and it was ruined with strange poll options. Too bad.

Couple of interesting questions though.

Does physical strength have anything to do with pushing?
Does physical strength have a strong correlation to winners?

Cipolla

Yes, Cipolla has the least physical strenght in the top-250, Simon within the top players.

I would think it's Gasquet. I've never seen him really crush the ball off either side, forehand or backhand. Not only that, but Richie's just not a physical player. He doesn't grind any of his opponents down. Hell, he doesn't even have much of physical build to hit the ball really hard or grind down his opponents. Even Almagro is stronger than Gasquet, and that says a lot.

I think Tomic has to be in the conversation here, but he does have the excuse that he is just a boy on his side still.

Nobody in the top 50 really.

And Monfils occasionally has an amazing forehand...

He did have a really good win against Roddick in the Wimbledon 2007 Quarters coming back from 2-0 sets down If I remember right.

Gasquet does have a very potent overhead smash, though whether you need much strength for that I dont know.

Dunn about Tomic, is 18 a boy? I thought you were considered a man when your 18.

Well, he showed some balls on the tennis court, so that makes him a man for mine.

Would Dankevic be considered here? Hes ripped but I dont remember him blasting winners.

Gasquet. Topless pics of him are horrible, he's all flab. But has sturdy legs. Gillou's upper body is pretty bulky, don't be fooled by the chicken legs.

Christophe Rochus is weak, not by an accident he's got a nickname "bagel boy" ;)

I was gonna say Davydenko, but I'm quite surprised by the options we have here...

What's Monfils doing in there? He'd chop your head off in a heartbeat.

I'll give him the serve but he hits the ball with the power of a 10 year old girl.

Federer's left arm.

Bit difficult to tell without looking at stats really, a fair few of them look skinny but it's still all muscle.

Hitting winners doesn't = physical strength.

Why the hell is Monfils on the poll?

It's a 2003 thread, what's the surprise. I'm surprised it doesn't include Nadal, Tsonga and few select others.

Monfils is always injured, that's probably why he's in this poll. Some people consider him as a good athlete but all his various injuries show he's not

Richard Gasquet.
You don't lose so many times after leading two sets to love just because of some mental weakness.

The top half of Simon should be fused with the bottom half of Gasquet.

Gasquet has powerful legs but he is weak on upper body, shoulder especially.

Brilliant poll options :worship:
Murray and Monfils

Sorry 2003, but seriously? They are both powerful players.

The weakest player, in my opinion, is Cipolla. Awful, weak player.

Have you seen Almagro play?
He's basically a power player and he's a tank. Huge, bulky player.

Monfils has hit forehands well over 100 mph. He pushes for tactical reasons, not because he lacks groundstroke power or physical strength.

Are your polls serious or are you just goofing around?

Agreed.

Having never seen Almagro before, I was very suprised to watch him during the Auckland Open and for such a hated player, assumed he must have been a pussy.

The guy smashes his serves at huge speeds. Infact, I quite liked him. Poor temprement but hes got a bit of mongrel about him you dont often see in the mens game.
