R2: Wawrinka backhands future GOAT Dimitrov 7:5 6:3 6:3

Some great backhands from both. Dimitrov needs a better coach if he wants to rise to the top. The kid seems clueless and ill-tempered at times. He HAS potential to be a top player and a marketing bonanza with his looks. :bounce:

Wawa played awful today :o

Dimitrov played ok but too many UEs, especially off the return

Waw awful and still winning so easy against a dangerous opponent? That's a good sign!

Too many unforced errors from Grig. Wawa just did enough to win.

Really easy for Wawa from the second set onwards, showed up Dimitrov somewhat.

Its time for Mr. Dimitrov to run afoul of a bitter and adamantly rigid reality and to get back to gruelling work if his intentions are to be competitive among inform Top50 contenders.

I am happy with Dimi's performance. Wawrinka is more experienced and that made the difference. I am sure Grigor will keep playing great and will record some very well performances in the next months.

GL to Stan in his next matches. :wavey:

Disappointing performance to be honest. Was just self imploding after he lost the first set

Wawrinka was not a good draw, he has not lost a single match since the beginning of the year, and not many sets i think (?).

Time Is Running Out For People To Realise Grigor Dimitrov Is Not The World Beater They Claim Him To Be.

I can't imagine what would have happened had tennis forums been dime a dozen during the period Fed was getting his head and game together. The moments of doubt when those of us who were following him in the 1998-2003 period would have been magnified beyond belief by "Dimitrov will never cut it" type of posters :(

Result seems about right. what did everyone expect here?

Grigor's still on the correct path toward success, no need for his fans to worry.

Anything that would qualify as less of a routine?

did he push an umpire again after the match just because he lost?

Guess he could have won a set.. we might be expecting too much of him to compete well against an established top 20 player like Wawa though. Guy still needs a couple years to mature, and if even then he's losing in this fashion then there will be some concerns. Not going with the hype of him being a multiple slam winner in the future or anything, but this match really doesn't prove anything about the potential of his career.

No, I don't think it says anything whatsoever about his prospects either, just that given his good form, I expected he'd at least play some closer sets, if not snatch some. Will be good to see him on ATP tour more now that he's cracked top 100.

Could somebody explain me why they call him "GOAT"?:)

mrclyde
01-19-2011, 05:31 PM
He is not in shape, maybe because he didn't know if he had play qualies or will enter directly MD. Some people this was the reason of Helsinki scandal. We should be satisfied of his performance. Next stop maybe is Helibronn challenger or qualies for Rotterdam.

starting to enjoy stanley's work... forced The Tradesman into tanking at the US Open... putting a bun in the oven, doing a runner and subsequently winning a title... next you you know he's beating up on FutureGOAT's...

what a f***ing playa...
