Laughable outcome :spit:

I didn't think Gulbis is so stupid, tanking the 2nd set against Simon in Sydney only to get this in Melbourne

Untelevised so who the hell knows what happened here.

Becker on his day can be a handful but this is still a really bad result for Gulbis.

 Unexpected but at the same time very predictable

Another non-shocker.

Yes, Gulbis IS this unpredictable.

Gulbis had Becker at 0-40 on Becker's second-to-last service game.

I know the bagel against Simon set a high standard, but Gulbis may not yet have peaked in terms of muggery. We're still only a few weeks into the year.

Just quit Gulbis. Hasn't gone past the first round of a slam since Wimbledon '09

Typical Gulbis on a sidecourt against a player he should beat. When he's not on the big stage he crumbles. Pathetic scoreline.

Gulbis+Grand Slam=Failure. This was the missing equation to Einstein's universal theory. Only now has this cosmic truth been so apparent, so enlightening.

Tactical move on Ernests' part. When he had triple break point near the end of the third set he realized he might have to play two more sets and decided it was best to conserve energy for Roland Garros.

Great opportunity grasped by Benjamin though :)

Amazing that this is the guy who reached the QF at RG and the SF at US Open as a teenager. He was always inconsistent but at least he used to show up for slams back then

Congrats on your big win, Benji, that's an amazing result, let's get some consistency also out of grass, will you?? ;)

I think Gulbis will have a Tipsarevic type career. Always dangerous on the big stage but always a mug when unmotivated. Especially because of his money, I can't say I'm surprised.

Awful start for Gulbis. He'd better visit some psychomaster in order to overcome his mental problem. Once he loses one set he goes down like hell and starts choking easily.

Not a shocker - Benni has had some good wins. He seems to like to play against heavy hitters. Next up is Dolgopolov, not a good match up for Becker. If he wins, that will be a sign of a step up.

Well, they have no clue what they're talking about.
Gulbis is a top 40 player, nothing more.
His no.23 ranking is too high.
