AO R1: Riba def. Ball 1-6 7-6(5) 6-2 2-6 6-4Arkulari 01-18-2011, 04:42 AM First ATP HC victory for Pere  http://i56.tinypic.com/zjt0t4.jpg straitup 01-18-2011, 04:46 AM Probably will be the funniest result of the year  oranges 01-18-2011, 04:47 AM What a waste of a WC and dream first round draw  TMJordan 01-18-2011, 04:48 AM Solid WC choice. Li Ching Yuen 01-18-2011, 04:52 AM Just retire Ball. Just retire. KarlyM 01-18-2011, 04:53 AM :haha: Hewitt =Legend 01-18-2011, 04:54 AM Ball is an awful player, even more so these days and Woodbridge is his biggest fanboy... No way he should be let near our Davis cup team next tie scoobs 01-18-2011, 04:56 AM You might say he ballsed that one up. Tom Paulman 01-18-2011, 05:01 AM Almost as good as Minar losing to Oscar Hernandez a couple of years ago. GlennMirnyi 01-18-2011, 05:02 AM Wow. Just wow. This is probably the definition of a fiasco in tennis. Voo de Mar 01-18-2011, 05:02 AM Ball moves on the court between the points like dead tired horse :o It's a pity because he has solid serve and good technique, he just can't use his weapons due to muggish attitude. coasterman9 01-18-2011, 05:03 AM tough one for Ball, Aussies are struggling so far. philosophicalarf 01-18-2011, 05:32 AM Saw this, was a massive mugfest. Ball skilfully df'ed to chuck away the 2nd set tiebreak, then went all Mathieu for a while. Laba 01-18-2011, 06:54 AM Pathetic... just pathetic. :o Henry Chinaski 01-18-2011, 09:53 AM Cost me money this one. Should have known a double with mugs such as Marchenko and Ball was coming unstuck though really it was a bet aganst Hidalgo and Riba, both of whom have no business in a hardcourt slam Li Ching Yuen 01-18-2011, 10:29 AM I saw the match and Ball looked significantly worse than let's say, 2 years ago. Riba is a Fognini-lookalike. :spit: propi 01-18-2011, 10:44 AM Congrats Pere :yeah: a win is a win no matter the rival :p FormerRafaFan 01-18-2011, 11:37 AM Ball :( Oh well, this guy's got a lot of potential. It doesn't matter if he lost today, he will do better in his next slam, I'm sure:) tennishero 01-18-2011, 01:58 PM what a mug this carsten. Hewitt =Legend 01-18-2011, 02:05 PM Ball :( Oh well, this guy's got a lot of potential. It doesn't matter if he lost today, he will do better in his next slam, I'm sure:) I wish I shared your optimism there mate... Ball is very mentally weak, and like someone said before, has a pretty negative attitude on court. Hope Woodbridge has learned his lesson...(ahh who am i kidding there) Ilovetheblues_86 01-18-2011, 07:58 PM Ball is like an unblessed character...its like he has been cursed when born. Geo 01-18-2011, 08:53 PM good riddance :wavey: FormerRafaFan 01-18-2011, 09:56 PM I wish I shared your optimism there mate... Ball is very mentally weak, and like someone said before, has a pretty negative attitude on court. Hope Woodbridge has learned his lesson...(ahh who am i kidding there) Well.. he can't be such a bad player, he did win over Raonic in USO after all ;) But seriously.. I think he's a good player. Too bad he has a negative attitude on court. People seems to have issues with some players attitudes on court, then again, other people like them so they can't be so bad. Oh well.. can't please everyone :) I think Ball is on his way up and he seems to be improving a little bit for every tournament. He was unlucky with Riba, I thought he would win, but Riba was just too much. At least he took it to 5. I'm pretty sure he'll do better in his next tournament though! delpiero7 01-18-2011, 10:07 PM Wow. Just wow. This is probably the definition of a fiasco in tennis. What he said. fast_clay 01-18-2011, 11:31 PM hey carsten... you f**ked up :yeah: GlennMirnyi 01-19-2011, 02:01 AM hey carsten... you f**ked up :yeah: I think he tanked this match to spend more time training low forehand block returns on his nintendo wii with the Gooch for their doubles campaign. Hewitt =Legend 01-19-2011, 10:59 AM I think he tanked this match to spend more time training low forehand block returns on his nintendo wii with the Gooch for their doubles campaign. I didn't think of this... it's so obvious now. I should not have underestimated Carsten, he is indeed Gooch's right hand man. | |
