Hopefully, Montanes should stay as a seed and get a good result here. He should if he plays well.

I wonder if Monfils will really play : he has DC tie in Wien just after. If he wants to be selected by Forget, he should pull out like last year

I wonder if Monfils will really play : he has DC tie in Wien just after. If he wants to be selected by Forget, he should pull out like last year

he's known it for long, and the DC tie is actually on clay : only French player who will actually play a tournament on clay

only the jetlag, but anyway Monfils always has strange sleeping habits

Jetlag + temperature difference (30 d° in Acapulco, 0d° in Wien) + complicated and long travel but of course, Monfils does what he wants !!!

Monfils is out for 4 or 6 weeks (wrist)

http://www.tennis.com/articles/templates/news.aspx?articleid=10622&zoneid=25Canadians Raonic, Marino serving big in Memphis
February 18, 2011 - Ticker

Canadians Milos Raonic and Rebecca Marino combined for 52 aces in their Thursday victories in Memphis. Raonic nailed 38 aces in a win over Radek Stepanek, while Marino hit 14 in a victory over CoCo Vandeweghe. Marino's total was the most in a match by any WTA player this season.

Marino then watched part of her compatriot’s win over Fernando Verdasco.

"I love his serve,'' said No. 80-ranked Marino. ''I really, really do. I wish I could hit it that hard."
|
Raonic, who won San Jose last week, scored his seventh straight win with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Robert Kendrick in the quarterfinals and is projected to crack Top 45 next week. He is also following Marino's progress.

"She's been doing well," said Raonic, who will take a special exemption into the tournament in Acapulco next week. ''She did well at the end of last year, too. She's improved a lot and things are coming for her. Everything is sort of falling into place. It's good to have that kind of inspiration for next generations, not only men's or women's, but in both."—Matthew Cronin

Nalbandian is out, they were saying it last night already. He is preparing for the Davis Cup.

He has also some pain (groin) and will see the doctor today, but he should be ready for the Davis Cup.

I guess it´s not official yet, but as far as we know David, when he doubts about playing somewhere, he finally withdraws.
IMO, he won´t play in Acapulco.

It seems the tournament might be stopped.

I read this online

The ATP has warned players about security concerns at its tournament in Acapulco, Mexico, and has been reassured by Mexican officials that steps are being taken to ensure safety at the largest tournament in Latin America

It looks like a pretty serious situation, In January, the bodies of 14 men with their heads chopped off were found outside a shopping center. A 15th body with its head intact was also found nearby!!

This is an important tournament, and a combined one.. I really hope things will go as programmed there, Mexico is a big country and it deserves a tournament like this..

Nalbandian on Twitter said two hours ago:

Acapulco es un torneo lindo para jugar, pero por ahí ahora está un poco más complicado por el tema de la seguridad.

(Acapulco's a good tournament to play, but things are getting complicated for what concerns security)

Anyway, yesterday they played both ATP and WTA qualifying first rounds..

There is a whole story on the tournament website about that the ATP sent these e-mails without telling the Acapulco organization. It's not 100% safe, but Ferrer says there is nothing wrong, as well as a lot of other players.
Only a few doubles players withdrew because of this. No single players as of yet.

Hopefully the murders in Acapulco will only be in the single digits this week, and none of them will include tennis players!! In other news, 53 people have been reported murdered in Juarez over the weekend, which is high by even Juarez' numbers.
