Some great matches for futures level already in the first round.

I'm spending vacations at the city I was born so it would be nonsense to go back to São Paulo to see the future and get an insane traffic at New Year's Eve to come to Santos. Thought about going for the first round but who knows with the rain at this time of the year.

some thoughts about quarter finals

ELIAS VS FABBIANO... the portugese will be too tired i guess. i expect a big fight tought in 3 sets with the italian my favourite to prevail

IGNATIK VS HOCEVAR: hocevar ended romboli's strike but i think he can be beaten from a determined young gun from belarus..maybe this is 3 setter again...

GHEM VS ZAMPIERI:zampieri is fresher, younger and more determined...i expect him to win in straight sets

YANG VS ALCAIDE: tough match but the spaniard is far more exprerienced on clay...maybe in 3 sets

That's pointless. If you actually believed that as a player you would only play a few tournaments but, for some reason he decided to play this future tournament and he is going to try the best he can. Actually, that kind of excuses are not reliable in my opinion. I expect a real tight match with Gastão taking it.

He obviously only plays there to prepare the next week Sao Paulo challenger.

He was a very talented junior (World #1 in June 2007) and plans to play at atp level very soon...

A win here is 27 pts ! Next week even a QF is 18, a win 100... Do u really think you would care both tourneys the same with that gap ? But no matter, keep thinking your way, that doesnt bother me that much.

First, I THINK that a win here are 35 points. Second, do you really believe that Ignatik will win challenger next week?

Just to clarify, I didn't understand the reason of the last sentence. Just pointless. Never been rude, was just stating my point and if you can't respect mine or everyone else's opinion, stop posting.

Crvena Zvezda
12-30-2010, 07:33 PM
Funny thing you tell me about respecting other's opinion as you begun arguing when I told my point of view about Uladzimir's possible state of mind.. But you obviously try to mess up here...

For the record, I really hope he doesn't care about that future and focuse on next week. Yes I hope he will win his second challenger next week. He has nothing else to prove at future level at 19, with a 192 best ranking and 6 futures already won. He stopped playing futures last January to play challenger circuit.

Just for the record, this tournament and next week's challenger are played at the same place.

Last year Alcaide won the future playing great tennis and played at the same time the qualifying for the challenger, where he lost in the final round in the 3rd set tiebreak to McClune (who was serving bombs all the way and reached quarterfinals in the main draw).

Gastão will surely do the same if he needs to and he can go far in both tournaments, why not? He seems to be playing good tennis judging by results so that's enough. Remember, Tsonga did the same at ATP level in 2007 at the grass season. It's great for players to have 2 tournaments at the same place.

Anyways, just hope he goest through qualies and I get to see him playing last week, unfortunatelly I won't be able to attend qualifying this year.

The draw of this tournaments was really good! there were some good names really good for a Future (even 15+) and especially considering the time of year. This is great to see Yang playing there. If anyone is in San Pablo and has the chance should go and see him playing: he obtained some good results in 2010 for this 19 years old for this taiwanese player (reached the main draw in Chennai coming from the quallies where he beated Dustin Brown), 2nd round in Honolulu CH coming from the quallies where he beated Krajinovic and Levine, ATP Delray Beach quallies where he beated Kevin Kim, reached QF in Samarkand (CH) (beated Pashanski and Oscar Hernanded), SF Karshi (CH) (beated A. Martin). Inspite of losing he gave a good fight to Isner in ATP Beijing and Melzer in MS Shanghai.

Good to finally see Ignatik in this part of the world (it seems to be that he is doing something similar to Berankis in 2010 where he started playing in Sao Paulo when his ranking was below 300). Good practice for Ignatik inspite of losing considering he is going to play CH San Pablo next week. This is great to see Gastao Elias doing it well here (I do still believe that he is a player with a big potential and great strokes. Hope he can do it better in 2011 and reach the Challenger tour asap!). Another player worth to pay a ticket to see him.

Just checking the names that were part of this Future it was definitely worth to attend some matches like Guidolin with Alcaide, Yang with Alcaide, Zampieri with Begemann, Hocevar with Romboli, Ignatik with Hocevar, Fabbiano with Tiago Fernandes, Elias with Dutra Silva, Ignatik with Elias.

This is time for Brazilians to hold another ATP than this elitist Costa do Sauipe or move the site of the tournament to San Pablo or Rio. I think Brazil is more than ready to make the jump :worship:

Another unbelievable victory. Com'on Gastão, take it now.

Excellent point, fran. Personally this is one of the best futures I've ever seen in Brazil and it's absolutely enthusiastic to see a portuguese defeating guys like Igantik, Fabbiano and Da Silva. As for tomorrow, I really hope that Gastão takes it in 2 or he will have big troubles into the Challenger qualy.

Nice to see that Ghem finally get one victory of a player of another country like Zampieri on rounds before.

André Ghem x Gastão Elias

Go Ghem and win this title for Brazil and get the wild for Challenger of São Paulo.

Gastão Elias made a grand willy on quarterfinals. The website of Brazil F1 said this =]

Great win again! :) The best possible way to start the season! Will 2011 finally be "the year" for Gastão? We hope so!

I noticed he is in the qualifying draw of the Challenger, but now he isn't supposed to play because he will get a WC to the main draw, right?

Well, according to MTF Brazilians, the wild card will be given to the best Brazilian and not the winner of the tournament. Anyways, I do believe that Gastão is able to qualify to the main draw.

Poor title of Brazil F1 for the country Brazil that is mine.

On tournament with a player on Top 200 of Brazil and a portuguese no seed win this title is very poor.

I know that Gastão have the coach one Brazilian. Jaime Oncins i believe that is the coach of Gastão.

Gastão not is a bad player but one Future on Brazil with the better Brazilian players is unbelieveble that a not Brazilian win the title.

And i continue thinking that Gastão not will survive to the marathon of games on qualy that he will have!

If he survives the qualy he probably will lost on first round on Challenger. Much difficult for portuguese.

Yap, I have already said somewhere that future tournament was definitely disappointing for Brazilians. Anyways, Gastão was outstanding and he managed to survive several times by losing the first set. The problem is, he will have two matches today and two matches tomorrow and the only he has to survive to this is to win today against Caio in straights. Let's hope so.

Congrats for Gastao and this victory! :worship:

Brazilians shouldn`t feel dissapointed that a non Brazilian player won. But Elias has the potential to be ranked in the top 150/200. He has all the shots, great hands and reads the game pretty well. His worse problem is that he is really unstable. And I hope that Oncins can help him to make the jump.

I've seen Caio playing, he will be lucky to win one game against Gastão.

Completely agree, but I should add: "potential to be ranked in the top 150/200", this year! Because I think he can be at least a top50 in the future. But also agree with you about the unstabillity, so let's hope Jaime can take the full potential of Gastão.;)

Elias has more potential on this surface than any of the Brazilians playing there.
