Fed has never even made semis here. However, he seems keener on non-slams of late: Madrid final, Halle final, Canada final, Cinci win, Shanghai final, Stockholm win, Basel final... and counting.

The last real Federror Bo3 disasters were in the clay season, Estoril to Montanes, and Rome to Gulbis (although Gulbis was superb).

As Djokovic is in 1 half and Federer/ Murray in other half then Djokovic is marginal favourite; having to potentially beat only one top 4 ranked player has to be an advantage.

Raiden
11-06-2010, 10:06 PM
This is between Murray and Fed in the semi final bout that'll take place between the two.

The winner of that semi final will continue/extend their ongoing Djokovic-beating streak in the final.

Nadal on crutches. Not but seriously probably Djokovic. Murray and Fed will fall before SF book it!

Probably a surprise winner. If it's going to be someone established as a top gun, I would say Murray or Soderling. Maybe Djokovic.

I don't see how anyone can say Federer. Look at his record in this event. I wouldn't even be surprised if he or Nole pull out, depending how physical the Basel match is. And honestly I should backtrack on Murray because I don't think he's going to be really motivated for this event. Honestly, it's really up in the air, anyone can take it if they want it.

Troicki will not play? Why?

He wants a DC spot badly, and it's good way of showing how serious he is. He can also point to Moscow, how well he played that ..... after skipping Shanghai for a training week.

True, although to some degree he's in a similar situation to Djokovic last year: struggling to actually win titles. Normally this is a second-stringer's event, but obviously if a big gun wants it that changes fast. Also if Murray exits early (Nalby?), then Fed has a great draw.

Would be nice if it was a new face though - Sod perhaps. Even a hailmary charge from Verdasco into WTF would be great, even if he is a bit of a hopeless case. I did enjoy Tsonga making that same move two years back.

Or .... Wawrinka? Kohlschreiber? New coach situation with both.

Or a crazed ballbasher hitting a hotstreak: Gulbis or Golubev would be fun.

Best of all: his doughnutty majesty, fat Dave himself.

I say the same. I'm really tired of Fed-Djoko matches, but they seem to be the two players that are in better form. I want to see Novak play against a different top 4. How long has it been since Muzza and Novak played each other? an eternity...

Sham Kay

Now we have just wait a moment when Federer will withdraw

Fed will not withdraw and will play for the following reasons:

(1) he wants #1 ranking back. He knows he needs to accumulate points and Paris will help.
(2) He hasn't had much success here. Never even made the finals. Time to change that.
(3) His matches have been relatively short and easy in Basel (except the final). He is fresh.
(4) He would like to settle scores with Murray here before london.
(5) there is a week rest between paris and london. Should be enough.

he said somewhere in an interview that he felt fatigue in 2nd set v Roddick yesterday, and matches v Nole also take it out of him

he might play, but he wont go far .. will be his typical kind of paris result.. r3/QF

Playing Stockholm was stupid move . He is in good form and good result in Paris would be great base for returning #1 spot next year . Wrong scheduling one more time takes his part , but I didn't expect this in Roger's case

Fed's chance at 1 isn't in grinding in masters, it's in holding the 3 non-clay slams at the same time. Not going to happen otherwise, cos Nadal will hoover up 5k points on clay, if he even takes one other slam he's guaranteed 1.

Yep. It's all about the slams. He needs at least 2 slams in a year to get #1 unless Nadal has a terrible year. And frankly, 2 slams are probably more important to his legacy than that final week at #1.

I hope to be wrong but I don`t think that Roger can keep his level for a 2nd week in a row. I think that Murray is going to be one of the finalists while Djokovic is going to be the other one coming from the other side of the draw (too many players with many ups and downs from his side of the draw).

I guess that there is going to be a Murray - Djokovic final.

any normal tennis fan or tennis observer with 1/2 a brain should be able to see that fed is the man to beat on indoor hard courts at the moment. his wins in basel prove that point.

its a done deal. lets move on to wtf. he should do well there too.

Clay Death never EVER predicts a Fed win. He always claims Fed will lose no matter what and I was 100% certain he hated Fed's guts.

Eh... he's pulling our legs. His favorite player (after Nadal) Nole will take it easy no problem.

you have not been reading my posts evidently old sport.

i pick fed when it is logical to pick fed.

its the certain federereeeeeeesians who are caught up in that jinxing nonsense and pick just about anybody fed has to face.

**i will give you an example: they had davydenko "******" fed at the australian open. and then they had murray running all over fed in the final. i had to correct them before hand in both instances.

you must have have the wrong person.

he just won a tournament. if he says he is tired then he is lying.

its like making excuses before hand. i dont find that acceptable from a great champion.

its this excuses and trashing other top guns over the years that has led to some decline in his popularity.

now with that being said, i firmly believe that he is the favorite for the both remaining indoor events.

i have never had any problems with his game. its his reckless mouth and his arrogance that i have a problem with. even so, i am not here 24/7 trashing fed.

that is something only federereeeeeesians are good at. they are the absolute masters of trashing and diminishing every single achievement of the clay warrior. and they do it so fluently.

if he is that tired then why not skip paris masters.

he said he wants 20 slams. he is not going to find a slam in paris old sport.

again, he is lying if he says he is tired. tired from what? he has the most efficient game in tennis. he played indoors and pretty much ran over everybody fairly quickly. one of his matches was just 48 minutes.

hell he practices 4 hours a day.

and why did he bother playing basel if he was that tired?

Roger doesnt have to win paris, no need here, for him was important to win basel he did.
he played a lot last months, final in shanghai, win back to back stockholm and basel, he might be tired as well

so the most important is london, thats why Roger wont be motivated
I think murray can win
