Lu started the match bright with some good shots and then when he got broken at 4-3*, Lu faded and Gasquet steped up his game.

Good 1st round win for Richard after what happened in Montpelleir last week!

Gasquet! :yeah:

being a hardcore Gasquet fan, I must say it was not a stellar match. Lu was injured in the back, and Richard clearly lacks confidence. Richard was excellent on serve, though, nothing to say about that, really good 1st serve.
I think the best game in the match was the (only) one when Richard was 15-40 down in second set, then he showed some guts, aggressive play, good net approach, all the tennis he needs thursday to have a chance to beat Berdych. He also made an impossible passing shot to win second break in set 2.

Gasquet needs to step it up in the next round. With Berdych out of form, this is a good chance for revenge from Monte Carlo...wait, has Berdych even won his match yet?

Berdych plays his R1 match tommorow.

I have only seen the second set, when Richard was already a break up. Lu was poor, particularly on the BH side, even if there were some nice shots occasionally. The FH from Richard to get the second break was great, a bit like the one against Hewitt at the US Open 2006 on MP.

Berdych is back guys, he beat Soderking in an exhibition a few days a go :rocker2:

Seriously though, congrats to Gasquet and his fans.

Seems like a good, solid win for Gasquet.

THANK you richard!

so glad he won, lu is probably one of the most overly ranked players on tour who's where he is because of one good event at a big tournament

cant wait for him to drop off

Lu was hurt, Richie did what he needed to do to win, his serve and his play behind it being the best part of his game today. Comfortable win for him, hopefully Lu rests up and is healthy for the beginning of the new season, if not Paris.

what are you on?

he got only 360 of his 1221 points at Wimbledon, that's not even the 30% of his ranking points. stop talking trash, please :o

Yen-Hsun Lu must have played terrible to lose with that scoreline to the current Gasquet
