Well done, Daniel. :yeah:

Mugro :bigwave:

Mugro turned up slacking off, only bothered trying to play when he went behind, took the 2nd set, then slacked off again.

Gimeno served superbly, very solid, good fight. He likes the sticky court here, really does hop up off the surface with his heavy topspin.

Basically, the home town guy wanted it, the other guy wasn't too bothered.

DGT you legend.

Always warms my heart to see Mugro lose!!

DGT was in danger of throwing the good work away in the third set. That favourable net cord in the final game might have been crucial.

Always a good day when mugro loses.

Vamos! Very nice win. He was winning 16/16 1st serve points in the first set, serving 70%. After that, his serve went down and things got tougher. Glad he ground it out and takes the 45 points.

DGT served very well but frankly Almagro looked poor out there

Why do you keep losing Almagro? ARGH.. I know indoors isn't exactly your strongest surface, but you are still better than this.. Should have won this match.

Mucho was poor today. Made a lot of errors especially off the backhand, wasn't consistently forceful, moved poorly, and looked like he couldn't be bothered a lot of the time. When he stepped it up he was the better player, just wasn't on today. A bit surprising since this is in Spain, but maybe some fatigue from last week. DGT served big and was looking to be aggressive on all fronts, with decent results. Only lost five points on the first serve. Very well deserved victory for Daniel at home.
