Naturally Ljubicic was the overwhelming favourite according to MTF.

Following Monfils's great run in finals, it should go to Legenda in straights.

Ljubo in 3. He's been very solid this week and serve is working as good as ever. Good match up for him also.

Legenda will feed La Monf with slow junkballs and wait for opportunity to attack....good match up for Ljubo

Ljubo 7-6 6-4

Hopefully Legenda takes out this annoying clown.

When Ljubicic is deprived of his serve due to Gael's good returning, the errors accumulate. Well done Gael!:D

I have to wonder if Gael is embarrassed that he can only win a meager 250 tournie in France.

Pathetic from Ljubo . can't see any positive thing for clownfils from this title , still can't beat when good player playing good . he can snatch small title or two per year but whit this game plan and style of play he will not do anything big

Congrats Gael for the victory :yeah:. He was always in control of the match and he could had closed it when rallying 6-2/3-1. Ljubo was definitely not on his day.

Gael has still those mental lapsus on matches that is his weakness issue.

Pretty expected result tbh, although I thought that Ljubo would have played closer sets.

agreed, that was one of his worst performances of the year.Good win for Monfils though, imo he will be a force at the AO like always. He has to keep this form for Bercy, cos if not he will drop a fuckload of points.

This result is good for the game

Good stuff Monfils. Now start training seriously and step up to the next level. You have the talent and the coach to get you there. Its up to you and whats between the ears now.

No,he doesn't.
There are many players who are far more talented than him and simply better(the top 4,Soderling,Berdych,Melzer,Verdasco,Davydenko,Wawk rinka....and i probably forgot a few others)

I'm talking about potential and you are just naming people ahead of him in the rankings. You realise rankings arn't everything don't you?

BTW - Melzer more talented than Monfils

I'll be interested in hearing the reasons for that statement.

Good week for La Monf', Isner Tsonga and Ljubicic... will he finally live a little more up to his potential?

Yes,they are better and more talented than Monfils.
They have for example a far better record against the top 4 than Monfils(who simply sucks once he plays a member of the top 4).
Do you seriously believe for example that Monfils would be able to beat Murray at US Open like Wawkrinka did last summer???

Time to get over the Monfils hype. He'll be a potential decent player in the French national basketball team but in terms of tennis he doesn't have it and I have always saw it since the start. Most people who seem to think just because he can whack a 190km forehand means he's got the potential to be an all time great, clearly they rarely pick up a racquet to play the sport.

His raw athleticism will bring him to a certain distance, but to reach the top is another story. There are many flaws in his game with his tennis techniques and general style being the worst weaknesses. People tell him to play more aggressive, but the truth is he can't because his strokes are technically flawed and is forced to push back all the time. And when such stroke techniques are combined with his never changing circus clown attitude, you easily acquire injuries and it doesn't help one bit. His potential lies in his superb athleticism, but the game of tennis is more than just about running without using your brain... numerous brain coordination is involved. His touch or feel, they're atrocious when you compare to other players with a physical game for example Rafael Nadal.

I love the hype of the defensive highlight videos which shows him saving shots which seem impossible to reach. People make it sound like such a big deal when the truth is Nadal can come up with a shot better or similar 10x more than he does.

Monfils, yea he's probably more of a talented sprinter than Melzer. Certainly not tennis though.
