Bolelli, Berankis, Harrison and Dancevic are not good enough to win in this field. Brown can be tired, Prz not really.

I think Prz, Gabash, Marchenko or Mannarino will win here. And then Mannarino and Marchenko are the biggest favourites imo.

Good luck Marko :yeah:

I don't understand why Karol wouldn't play here.

If I remember right, Karol Beck has something like "war" with Slovak tennis association (but I don't remember why...), so he hasn't play Davis cup match since 2005. And he doesn't play Slovakian tournaments. It's year after year same and this week he will play in Salzburg, traditionally.
______________________

In Qualify - Miloslav Mecir jr. won very difficult match against Raditschnigg yesterday, so I hope it helps him a lot. And Ryan Harrison had three-set battle against Lustig too. Ryan finally won it 7:3 in 3rd set tiebreaker, it shows that he isn't one of the favorites. ;)

I think we could see Marchenko and Przysiezny (or Lacko) in the finals. :tennis:

Well that's it, I knew this could be dangerous, Semjan played well, but Simone was flat from the beginning. Whether that was emotional let down or physical let down, I don't know, but he just didn't have his shit together. A real blown opportunity here, because he was in a good section of the draw. I'm disappointed but more just hurt by his results, but it's not going to change.

He wasn't tired. I'm pretty sure I know what happened, I can't spell it out because of forum rules, but you can draw your own conclusions. Bear in mind Bolelli has a history of this kind of thing.

I'm just an idiot for betting on the Italian, but ive learnt my lesson.

Filo V.
11-15-2010, 07:53 PM
Tired from what?!

Last week, I guess, he played a 2+ hour match just on Friday. He LOOKED tired, he always has that half assed style, but he looked really worn down there in the third set, his serve lost power, and his movement declined. It could be emotional let down from last week, I don't know. I'm just fed up with the bullshit. Still, he only needs a win or two to pretty much secure the AO, I don't see it happening anymore, though.

Filo V.
11-15-2010, 07:53 PM
Simone, as far as I know, isn't a fixer.

jonnyboy21
11-15-2010, 07:55 PM
Pfft, maybe youre right, but he shouldnt be tired to be honest, it's a poor excuse. Maybe it was just Semjan buoyed by the home support.

Filo V.
11-15-2010, 07:57 PM
It is a very poor excuse, I'm not defending this result. He just simply looked out of energy, like he didn't have anything in the tank. Semjan essentially gave him the break back but he was serving poorly in that third set, just not good enough on the day, and yes, the home crowd helped Semjan very much with the victory.

Montego
11-15-2010, 08:02 PM
Very bad result Bolelli, no excuses.

I remember how 2-3 years ago he was playing against Fed in Basel and the match was quite entertaining. Fed won comfortably like 6-4 6-3 or something, but Simone was a demanding opposition for sure.

These were the times when he was reaching Top30. And now ? Pathetic I should say - of course in terms of talent that he posesses.

He should focus on 2011 or gtfo for good in 2012 if 2011 is similar to 2010.

Filo V.
11-15-2010, 08:07 PM
Montego, we can forget about him fulfilling his potential. At this point in the game, he needs to try not to become Berlocq. He's 25 and languishing in challengers, he's basically stuck now between ATP/Challenger level, and shows no indications of getting out. Because he cannot play on hard courts, and he cannot beat players above him. So right now, his ranking is about where it belongs, about 100. There are just too many mental and game weaknesses there to see better.

He just needs one or two wins in Finland to make the AO for sure. He should have gotten them here, and now he needs to get them next week. Just one or two, that's all I hope for.

Ad Wim
11-15-2010, 08:13 PM
He'd wish he was Berlocq right now.

jonnyboy21
11-15-2010, 08:23 PM
Haha, was gonna say something similar. Berlocq is a class above Simone, no doubts. Berlocq is the best Challenger player on the clay courts, but he won't succeed at ATP level if he doesnt improve on hard courts.

Filo V.
11-15-2010, 08:26 PM
That's right, I shouldn't knock Charly. He's a better player than Simone is now, for sure, and I think he's the second best challenger clay courter, behind Daniel, with Riba, Hajek and RRH right there. Charly schedules better too. Simone should be playing more on clay. He can't win on hard.

Oh well, this loss doesn't devastate me too much. He just needs to win a match or two in Finland. That will devastate me, if he loses R1 there.

Filo V.
11-15-2010, 08:28 PM
What I meant about saying Berlocq, though, was a challenger player who can't make the step up to ATP events. A guy who gets stuck between 70-120 in the ranks, bouncing from challengers to ATPs, and not able to feel assured to be able to just play ATP events only. And not winning against ATP players often. That is what Simone is now, he's just a Berlocq/Hajek/Greul etc. type now.

Montego
11-15-2010, 09:00 PM
He can't win on hard.

I wouldn't say so. Actually I remember him coming on the scene in the indoor hard challengers back in 2006/07, something like that. He won some 100K+ challengers back then, Bratislava included if I remember correctly. And later he had good results in Vienna / Basel etc.

He is not a harcourter of course, but he used to have a good speed and timing and could play indoors, like f.e. Clement, who in reality and style-wise is still closer to clay than to hard

Clement has compact groundstrokes, takes the ball early, returns aggressively, and a serve helped by fast courts.

His style is not like Bolelli's and it's not more suited to clay than hard.

Montego
