Seeeeet, Hrbaty. Now, one set all.

Hrbaty 3-6 6-4 *0-0

Filo V.

8/9 of the WC/Q/Alt's won and they only one who lost, lost to another one of those:lol:

That's the challenger tour in a nutshell.

Filo V.
11-17-2010, 07:27 PM
That was a fucking great point right there for Hrbaty to set up break point. which he took, to go *2-0 up.

Luinir
11-17-2010, 07:30 PM
Hrbaty just showed his huge HEART there.

3-0 in the third set.

Filo V.
11-17-2010, 07:35 PM
The match has completely gone in Hrbaty's favor. He's the one making all of the plays and Gaba looks deflated.

what serving from ledovskikh

0-40 down and he comes up with ace #'s 2,3, 4 and 5 to save it and hold

Filo V.
11-18-2010, 01:29 PM
Marchenko has won more points but the Russian is doing great on the big points with his serving. Let's see if he can keep this up.

misty1

10/10 break points saved

Filo V.
11-18-2010, 02:02 PM
Ledovskikh I've always thought had game. Just never progressed past a certain level. But he's got some major power with the serve and some great timing on his shots, good talent.

Marchenko is mostly grinding and we'll see if that strategy plays off. Marchenko, for the style he plays, has a good serve that really helps him win some easy points.

misty1
11-18-2010, 02:05 PM

now hopefully he doesnt choke and can serve this out

Mikhail has some of the biggest power I've seen from any challenger/lower level ATP player. He really has really pacey and hard shots and great timing. Wonder why he can't consistently show this level.

misty1

Is Ledovskikh's fh more powerful than Andreev's and Gonzalez's? Imho it is.

It's not more powerful than Gonzalez', I don't think, because Gonzo's FH is not just hit with a ton of pace, but is so heavy and very hard to get on top of. But yeah, I'd say it's more powerful than Igor's, based on what we saw today. Absolutely huge shot, both DTL and cross court.

Yeah, I know that it will be a tough match, Prz is pretty much as tough of an opponent as you can get in the challenger tour.. But Rycka will have to start beating such players consistently if he wants to make it to the ATP tour and I believe he def has potential for that.

Alex K. has some serious talent. He's just too emotionally unstable and too injury prone. But he's got the ability to hit some amazing returns, he's a real shot maker, great timing. Great serving today also.

Michal P./Berankis should be very interesting. I think Michal P's serving could see him through, but hope the youngster takes it!

Berankis wins first set 6-4.

From what I've seen since stream started Berankis serve is a bit more solid than Prz's today, and Berankis is making very little mistakes while Prz is making a bunch of them.

If Prz does not cut down on those mistakes in the second it should be a fairly easy win for Berankis IMO.

Filo V.
11-18-2010, 05:07 PM
Berankis is playing OK, but he made some errors in that first set, also the serve percentage wasn't great. He did however win a lot of points on second serve with effective serving. He mostly won that set because of Michal P's errors.

Semjan hits the ball too hard for Blaz. Blaz doesn't have anything in his game to stop Semjan from teeing off.

All of these younger Slovaks have a real slap happy game. They sure take full cuts at balls and basically hit the ball as hard as possible when possible. They all seem tall, big serve, and just big everything.

Just too much power from Semjac. 6-3 7-6(4) victory over Kavcic.

Happy for the Slovak, but he took out two of my main favorites so I'm not personally happy. And Ryan is out too, so I'm very disappointed for the most part from today. But good that the Slovaks have some of their men doing well here, they always seem to play well at home.

Looking at the draw, the top half seems much much stronger, but the bottom half have guys hitting the ball so hard, and hitting so clean with minimal errors in relation to the hard shots. I think one of the two Russians will make the final.

misty1
11-19-2010, 12:09 PM
hopefully ricardas can get to atleast the semi final and if he does i wouldnt expect him to beat kunitsyn if that is his opponent there.

if they play as well as they did yesterday i sould see a ledovskikh/kudryavtsev semi-final and a possible all russian final

I just have no idea where this came from for Stefan, but I really like what I've seen these last two days.

misty1
11-19-2010, 02:02 PM
that set really was so dictated by serve that if ricardas had not started so slow it probably would have went a tiebreaker

he's got to take one of these oppertunities though

koubek is a brick wall on break points just like ledovskikh yesterday

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 02:06 PM
Stefan is so moody. Berankis has been doing very well on serve. Breaks are hard to come by on courts this fast. Stefan is really just hitting balls hard and going for lines and I don't think he can keep up that level, Berankis is the more solid of the two.

jonnyboy21
11-19-2010, 02:08 PM

Yeah exactly right koubek is just trying to blast the cover off the ball going for winners off both sides rather than just being consistent crazy shots that are just not on.

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 02:12 PM

Kunitsyn is a bad match-up for Hrbaty. Basically mini-Davydenko, and I'm sure you remember what Davydenko did to Dominator.

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 02:14 PM
I love this event, everyone is just slapping the ball around with major pace, some real clean hard shots on a very fast court. Very entertaining tennis.

First three games in this third set will decide the winner in this match.

The Matador
11-19-2010, 02:14 PM
If koubek doesnt get it together quickly this could be over fast he's still letting that hawkeye challenge get to him unbelievable for a player so experienced

gtg for class, will be back in an hour and hope to see richard win

Yeah exactly right koubek is just trying to blast the cover off the ball going for winners off both sides rather than just being consistent crazy shots that are just not on.

Yup, but he played pretty similar to this yesterday and it worked. I've never seen him play like this, going for lines on everything. It's so risky but I guess it's better than him being defensive.

The first point of the third set was one of the few actual rallies in the match.

The Matador
11-19-2010, 02:20 PM

jonnyboy21
11-19-2010, 02:28 PM
We'll see. This is Koubek remember

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 02:29 PM
This is tennis. You see it all the time. One guy has major chances, doesn't take them, the other player gets a head of steam and takes the match. Especially someone like Koubek who is so up and down emotionally.

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 02:30 PM
Koubek is a known choker, but I don't see that coming into play here.

jonnyboy21

Iván
11-19-2010, 03:01 PM
Hrbaty breaks already, man with this crowd anything is possible for dom this week.

Iván
11-19-2010, 03:04 PM
if dom serves well he wins easily, if he doesnt long match.

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 03:29 PM
I don't see Hrbaty winning this match, unless he plays on his version of God mode. It's just a bad match-up for him here.

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 03:31 PM
I'm very happy for Stefan, hope he wins this event now and goes deep in Finland and makes the AO MD. Rycka had his chances, another close loss for him. These are all learning experiences for the youngster. Hopefully he does well next week to get in the AO MD as well.

Iván
11-19-2010, 03:31 PM

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 04:03 PM
Igor is playing so much more offensively than he was a few months ago, guess that's why his results have picked up. He's way better than when I saw him in Moscow/St. Pete.

Kunitsyn is great at hitting offensive shots on the run in defensive positions.

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 04:04 PM
Hrbaty's movement isn't good enough at this point to be a truly decent player. His footwork/speed is exposed too easily. But great that he's giving it his all out there, which you would expect from someone so classy.

The Matador
11-19-2010, 04:06 PM
kunitsyn looks like he's gonna send hrbaty into retirement

The Matador
11-19-2010, 04:07 PM
lets see how much hrbaty has left

The Matador
11-19-2010, 04:10 PM
hrbaty is giving it everything fair play to the man he deserves a lot of respect

Filo V.
11-19-2010, 04:11 PM
Igor played a really defensive game but Dominator showed some great aggressive hard hitting there to break.

The Matador
11-19-2010, 04:13 PM
