Could Safin have won Wimbledon on the slower grass?

This was Safin (who had just came back from one injury, and had to take painkillers before his matches including this one) who very nearly beat Federer at 100%, on his best surface in arguably his best year in terms of the level he played in. Safin lost 4-6 7-6 4-6.

On the faster grass, Safin wouldn't have much chance due to him not being as comfortable resorting him into not moving as well. But I don't think it's a stretch to say he could have won Wimbledon if he stayed healthy and had the hunger to achieve it.

Any thoughts?

Safin could have won any tournament he wanted to. For him it was all mental.

I agree with Groove Dude, Safin could have won everything, he was so talented with such powerful groundstrokes, but he was a head case.
