Up-and-coming Brazilian player who is transitioning into the pros :) He is the #3 ranked junior in his age group of 1993. Won the Junior Australian Open earlier this year. I will post his results here for anyone who is interested :)
Right now he is playing in the Brazil F27 futures tournament. He won his first round match against his friend Bruno Sant'Anna, 6-2, 6-2 and his second round match against Victor Maynard, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. He advances to the quarterfinals to face the second seed, Daniel Silva.

Pics of Tiago at the Unicef Open this year in Rosmalen - Holland
Tiago lost in quarterfinals of the Brazil F27 to #2 seed Daniel Silva  He will play F28 next week in Fernandopolis.
10-15-2010, 05:18 AM
Tiago is in the semifinals of the Brazil F28 futures! :bounce:
He will play the top seed tomorrow!
10-15-2010, 05:21 AM
Keep going Tiago :D
10-19-2010, 02:13 AM
Tiago reached the singles semi and doubles final of the Brazil F28 futures! He had a really tight three setter against the top seed (which is probably why he withdrew from the doubles final) but he is gradually gaining experience :)
I'm not sure where he's playing next year, maybe taking a week off. Keep fighting Tiago!
10-23-2010, 02:13 AM
Tiago got a WC to the challenger in Sao Paulo next week!
10-27-2010, 04:32 AM
Tiago won his first round match in Sao Paulo! He was losing 3-6, 0-2 when there was a rain delay, but he came back today and won the second set 7-5, saving THREE match points  and served up a bagel in the third! Fantastic win for him!
He will play Nicolas Devilder next.
From this (http://www.copapetrobrasdetenis.com.br/2010/noticias_ver.asp?id=258) article (sorry the translation isn't so great!)
"It was a new situation for me, I've never had a match interrupted and delayed until the next day and it was a difficult night," he said, explaining that both he and Meirelles were in an unfamiliar situation, as they train and travel together and are guided by Larri Passos. "We were kind of stuck, could not get a good feel, nor have the support of the coach, who in turn also could not say anything."
"Yesterday (Monday) evening, I could not get a feel for the balls. When we restarted today, I tried to apply a little more." He admits there is some pressure with both the public and press. "There are external factors that should not influence me, but you eventually create this expectation that does not exist. Fortunately, I managed to reassure myself."

Tiago's tentative schedule for the first couple months :) He will play AO qualies, a few challengers, and Costa do Sauipe
He will play here (don't know if he will have a WC, probably yes). According to this news (http://globoesporte.globo.com/tenis/noticia/2010/12/campeao-juvenil-tiago-fernandes-recebe-convite-para-australian-open.html) his schedule for the start of the year is:
27/12 - São Paulo futures
03/01 - São Paulo challenger
10/01 - Australian Open qualies
24/01 - Singapore challenger
31/01 - Burnie challenger
07/02 - ATP 250 Costa do Sauipe
12-28-2010, 09:55 AM
Wow, that's a lot of travelling! Where does he get the money from? Why doesn't he just stay in SA?
12-29-2010, 12:32 PM
Sponsors and rich daddy :D
01-04-2011, 05:51 PM
Today in Sao Paulo. Till the rain came again..
01-05-2011, 06:23 AM
First round loss in the Futures, and out 2nd round of Qualifying for the Challenger. Disappointing two weeks, he'll need a miracle in Australia.
02-05-2011, 01:20 AM
Seems he has an injury to his leg and won't play Brasil Open
He was supposed to play some challengers after AO qualies but got hurt. He'll go to Costa do Sauipe to train with Bellucci a bit, then spend some weeks in Balneário Camboriú to train, then he will start again playing challengers at the end of February :)
03-12-2011, 03:15 AM
Finally back playing :bounce:
Qualified to the MD for the Kyoto challenger and won his first round match against Yang Tsung-Hua. Lost in the second round to Simon Stadler but it was a good result :)
03-13-2011, 06:45 PM
He just qualified for a challenger in China, and will play Naso first round. I think he can win that one too.
03-15-2011, 09:13 AM
He defeated Gianluca Naso 6-4 6-2 :yeah:
He will play Meffert next, it looks like.
03-15-2011, 12:28 PM
At this point, along with the 9 points he earned last week, he should be around the Top 500.
03-23-2011, 05:39 AM
He reached a career high ranking of 512 after his good run in China :)
Not sure where he will play next, maybe the challenger in Recife, Brazil
04-03-2011, 03:48 PM
Good draw for Tiago in Recife. Qualifier first round, then either WC Sant'anna or 6th seed Romboli in the 2nd round.
04-05-2011, 12:26 AM
Great news now that the two seeds in his quarter have lost. He plays a qualifier, and hopefully he can win that match, then plays Sant'anna next. A winnable first and second round for him, and then he has a fair chance to reach semis as well. Hope he can do it!
04-05-2011, 06:16 PM
Won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, a hard fought match against fellow Brazilian Tiago Lopes. Sant'anna next.
04-05-2011, 07:42 PM
This Tiago Fernandes seems to be a good player. Hope he keeps with the good games and soon break in Top 200 :)
04-06-2011, 04:22 PM
Big win over Sant'anna, and should be able to make the semi-finals.
With the 15pts he has already he'll move up to around 461, and if he does get to into the semi-finals he'll be around 425.
I imagine he'll pick up points in the other 2 Brazilian Challengers, and hopefully he'll head to Europe after, and try to get into Roland Garros qualifying.
04-06-2011, 09:18 PM
Great news! Tiago in the quarters :D Hope he keeps up with the good work. :yeah:
04-08-2011, 05:55 PM
Tiago in the semis!!! :worship: 6-4 3-6 7-6 over Clezar. What a great victory!
In the 3rd set, Clezar broke for 6-5, but Tiago broke back immediately and then won the tiebreak.
I am sooooo happy! :D
04-08-2011, 05:59 PM
With this win, Tiago will be at about #425 in the ranking next week. A jump with over 75 places :worship:
04-09-2011, 02:28 AM
Tiago has played so solid this week :worship:
I think he might've lost this, but he's been very good mentally this week, he saved a lot of break points and he's done a great job of keeping it together when he gets broken, like today, he couldn't convert two BPs at 4-3* and then gets broken at *5-5, but instead of just collapsing, he fights back, breaks at love and wins the TB. Same with Sant'anna match, Bruno served for the set but Tiago is just too good on hard courts. On clay, the other boys might have an advantage, but Tiago is too good here :worship:
04-10-2011, 10:05 PM
First challenger semifinal :woohoo:
Defeated Julio Silva 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(2)
"I'm very happy with this victory, because I managed to win against a very experienced player. I got to be aggressive and win points in the important moments. Julinho is a player who moves, runs, defends and counterattacks very well. It's been an amazing week, full of different experiences, helping me grow and learn a lot." http://www.brasilopen.com.br/series/noticias_ver.asp?id=20
He plays Tatsuma Ito in the final in an hour or so. He'll be ranked around 380, and if he wins, around 335.
04-10-2011, 11:34 PM
Shortly after securing a historic result, Fernandes announced that fatigue and back pain forced him to give up playing the final of Pernambuco Brazil Open Series, which was scheduled for 19:30 against the Japanese Tatsuma Ito.
The decision was taken by coach Larri Passos. He had tried to change the final to Monday, which was not possible due to the lineup of players, and Fernandes did not play the final in order to be preserved physically.
With the 48 points scored at this week's tournament, Fernandes rises from 509° to around 380° in the rankings. He won the right to compete in the challenger of Blumenau, where he will debut on Tuesday against the 6th seed Leonardo Mayer.
At number 166 in the rankings, Ito can celebrate not only the title and prize of $ 5000, but also an invitation to compete in the main draw of the Brazil Open in 2012.
He was too physically exhausted to play the final  but reaching the final is still impressive and he will reach a career high in the 380s now!
04-10-2011, 11:51 PM
It looks like Tiago is making amazing progress, and will be in a good position to try and get into Roland Garros qualifying. Even though Clay isn't his strength, I still think it will be good for him to get his feet in the water with the big boys. Wimbledon qualifying is a good goal though.
04-15-2011, 02:50 AM
He is the youngest player in the top 500 now
04-22-2011, 09:46 PM
Tiago is playing qualifying in Estoril this week. Its a clay tournament, and he's playing World Number 161 Cipolla first round, so it could be tough.
04-23-2011, 04:58 AM
Tough draw for Tiago to draw one of the seeds. Hopefully he can take some confidence from his wins in Brazil, but clay isn't his best surface, so we'll see...
04-24-2011, 08:04 PM
He lost his first match 6-0, 6-1. Clay isn't his best surface and he was playing a much better player, but hopefully he will stay and practice and improve here
Found a pic from facebook
04-30-2011, 06:04 AM
Tiago receives a wildcard into a Challenger in the Czech Republic next week. Probably going to stay in Europe until after Wimbledon I imagine
04-30-2011, 06:41 PM
Plays Jan Hajek in the first round :(
05-03-2011, 02:58 PM
Just lost 7-6(7) 6-3
Saved three sets points in first set but lost serve again when serving 7-7 in tie-break
Second set Hajek only needed a chance to break Tiago's serve and then serve for match
05-03-2011, 11:10 PM
Improvement from Cipolla (he beat Roddick, so maybe that beatdown doesn't look so bad now ) and first time against a player in the top 100. Keep improving, Tiago :)
05-17-2011, 08:43 PM
Played Nice but lost 61 61 to Rufin
and played doubles with Paire, but lost to
05-18-2011, 07:57 PM
There was a stream for the doubles match, it was pretty funny. You can tell he's still pretty experienced, but it was a 6-4, 6-4 loss against a decent team and a nutjob partner (I think he said on twitter to Christian Lindell that he had never spoken to Benoit Paire before they were signed up to play together )
05-19-2011, 07:37 PM
Plays Alexandria next.
05-19-2011, 07:49 PM
good luck, tiago :worship:
05-28-2011, 08:54 PM
Tiago is playing junior Roland Garros, he's the 6th seed :)
05-29-2011, 04:37 AM
Tiago is playing junior Roland Garros, he's the 6th seed :)
I'm a little surprised since he said he wanted to play more futures and challengers, but this is good practice for him. Hope he can do well here!
05-30-2011, 08:43 AM
Tiago had to retire from his match with severe back pain. Hope he is okay
05-30-2011, 11:00 AM
Tiago had to retire from his match with severe back pain. Hope he is okay
Oh no  I hope he's ok now.
05-30-2011, 10:59 PM
That's bad. He had 64 41 and then this injure came back... tought it was already gone
06-04-2011, 10:12 PM
Back problem again.. retired after losing first set 64 in Queens
Possibilities of not playing in Wimbledon
06-05-2011, 05:48 PM
06-25-2011, 08:31 PM
Tiago is back on clay, plays Braunschweig CH.
06-27-2011, 05:40 AM
Woo! I was worried, I kept checking draws the past couple weeks and didn't see him. Hope he has recovered well from his injury!
He won his first round qualies 7-6(3), 6-3 and lost second round to Guillermo Olaso, who is a good player. Hope he will have better luck in his next event!
07-03-2011, 07:59 PM
Tiago qualified for Oberstaufen Challenger :D He plays WC Marcel Zimmermann in first round. I think he might have a chance to win.
07-04-2011, 08:21 PM
Lost 1-6, 2-6, but it's good that he qualified, he is getting confidence and fitness back after being away injured for so long. Hope he can do well his next tournament and he is still in doubles here, so good luck :D
07-06-2011, 11:44 PM
He's coming back to South America, he's on entry list for next week's CH in Bogota, and the week after he is on entry list for Manta CH. He might even enter the main draw in Manta directly (he's the fourth alternate) but we'll see. Challengers in South America usually have weaker fields than those in Europe, so I expect Tiago to have some good results in the following weeks :)
07-09-2011, 01:03 PM
Is he still playing? I don't see his name on the entry lists unless I'm looking in the wrong place
For sure he will probably play Campos do Jordão in his home country in August :)
07-09-2011, 03:06 PM
The last time I checked he was the first alternate for Bogota-2 CH, but he's not in qualifying draw. The first seed in qualifying draw is Guillermo Duran who was the third alternate, so Tiago has either withdrawn or entered the main draw directly. The main draw should be out tomorrow I think, hopefully we'll see his name there :)
07-09-2011, 09:23 PM
07-10-2011, 05:36 AM
Not on Bogota main draw
07-19-2011, 09:21 AM
Tiago is in main draw of Manta!
He beat Juan Sebastian Gomez 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 :D
Now he faces #1 seed Izak van der Merwe. He always gets second round against the top seed :o
08-04-2011, 02:48 AM
Images and video from Manta
...and two images from Campos Do Jordao :)
08-06-2011, 02:30 AM
His haircut looks very cute :D
Lost in doubles semifinals but good to get there anyway. Any news on where he will play next?
08-06-2011, 02:35 AM
I need to learn Portuguese
08-06-2011, 02:42 AM
Thank you for posting this video Slumpdasco, I haven't seen it before
