No idea what to expect here. Rafa shouldn't be losing to anyone in this draw, but then again he's never the same in MM tournaments, especially on HC. I'll say WIN.

Minn

Semifinal for me :)

Since when does Rafa play any tournament like it's a vacation?

He's vacationing before the tournament. I was just trying to put something interesting in the thread title :o

win. what's his next tournament after this?

Tokyo - though some people are speculating that he might pull out so he doesn't have to play 3 weeks in a row. But I don't think he'll pull out.

MariaV

Tokyo - though some people are speculating that he might pull out so he doesn't have to play 3 weeks in a row. But I don't think he'll pull out.

Unless he gets seriously injured in Bangkok there's no reason to pull out from Tokyo, it's not like he'll fly back to Mallorca and then again to Shanghai, so might as well check out Tokyo and gather some dough but hopefully he'll be smart enough to tank in Tokyo in order to avoid any complications with the knees (which I hugly doubt though). :o :tape:

I have no problem with that. :D

Since when does Rafa play any tournament like it's a vacation?

It doesn't matter anyway because Rafa does everything with the same fervor and energy. :worship:

In any case after seeing those photos Evita posted, I think Rafa's motives for traveling to Thailand this time, have to do with a different issue altogether.

So WIN it is!

vernonbc
09-27-2010, 07:48 AM
I'd like to say semi as I hope he doesn't drive himself too hard (hah!) but then again I'd hate to see him lose to Gulbis or Meltzer or someone like that so I'll say Final, and if it's against Verdasco, that he (and I) wouldn't be too upset if he lost against his buddy.

Hi mimi, it's nice to be back and good to see you again :hug:I was in Thailand until the 16th of this month but had to leave because of work. Unfortunately, all the tickets were sold after Rafa confirmed so even if I stayed in Bangkok I wouldn't be able to see him. really, I was so disappointed about that but had to leave and couldn't change my ticket:confused: Surprisingly, Thais really don't care much about a new Thai superstar after Paradorn. What i mean is that they will most likely to buy tickets to watch a tennis star whatever his nationality. The last couple of years the line up wasn't that great in high ranking players thus the event wasn't that supported. Great that you could watch it on TV. I am going to ask my Thai friends to record Rafa's matches for me.

Metis said in the chat thread that she is very busy in real life. :o :o  So we'll have to wait & see.
You could take over (like you already have). ;)

Thanks, it was a pretty solid performance from Rafa in the final. At least he did not get broken again while serving for the match. :o  And did not get too tired before Shanghai. :)

I feel a "W" coming in this one too. He's on a roll and already got rid of his inevitable "confidence loss" with GGL match. When he is healthy and on a roll....

I will put F. As nobody else put F and as a part of an anti-jinxing campaign for this tournament. Good luck to everybody and mostly to Rafa! ;)

I am sad, but I was even more sad when Rafa lost to GGL. I know that Thailand was only ATP 250, but I was sooo sure that Rafa would win in Bangkok that it just came to me as a shock. I knew that in Shanghai Rafa would probably lose to Murray. It's a shame that he ended his streak of reaching quarters in Masters 1000 and I hate when Rafa is out of tournaments, but we need get used to the fact that Rafa will never be good in indors tournaments.

He is not a machine my god he has played brilliant all year he is tired, give him a break.
Go rest rafa recharge your batteries ready for Paris.
I cannot for the life of me understand why people slag him off for losing a match,he can't win all the time,he has just won Tokyo what more do they want!!!!!:(:(

Rafael Nadal Hi all. Well, things are like this. Sometimes you win and most of the times in tennis you lose. It was like this yesterday. Now I am going to India to work with my foundation. You'll have news soon. Thanks all for your support!

Rafa not winning Bangkok was a shock for me too and he was not happy about the loss to GGL but maybe that will inspire him to go back there some time in the future when he's well rested and all. And taught me a lesson NEVER ever to think beforehand oh he's gonna win this (match or torunament). As anything can happen.

It has been another amazing year (like 2008) so there's really no need to be mad, Aenea!  Hope you can calm down soon.

On a positive note Rafa had the worst tennis day since the loss against Cilic in Beijing 2009, and Melzer had played the match of his life on Rafa's worst surface. On top of that the roof was closed, and Rafa got robbed in one of the last games when Melzer's serve was out. Still Melzer was hardly able to beat him, and with a few points here and there Rafa easily should have taken the 3rd.

Hey, friends. It wasn't such a bad Asian swing. He should have won in Thailand, he won in Tokyo and he should have reached at least the semis in Shanghai, but Rafa feels tired now. One loss isn't that important. The most important tournament to the end of the season starts on November 21. VAMOS!!!

So, not a bad Asian swing 2010
