Surprises? I think Nadal winning so much is a surprise, three slams for him couldn't have been predicted at the start of the year (given his poor close season 2009). Apart from that however, to see him on top with Federer second is fairly expected. Djokovic and Murray at #3 and 4, of course expected. I think Berdych and Soderling are the surprises, they can be very happy with the way they performed this year (especially from RG-now). I don't think many people saw Soderling or Berdych doing what they did this year and as it happens Berdych can even be a little disappointed he ran into a red hot Llodra a fortnight or so ago, without that bad luck he could easily be in the #4 spot.

I think that list basically sums up the state of the ATP tour at the moment. There are basically 6 guys who have been consistently better than everyone else, and those 5 guys directly below Nadal are the only guys on the tour who have a hope of beating him over 5 sets. I simply cannot see anyone else doing it at the moment, bar injury or fluke.
