USO like Doha for Rafa this year?

Persimmon

I see similarities. Rafa had very easy draws, dropped no sets before the final and then lost the final(to Davydenko) and to Nole will happen at the USO anyway.

Persimmon

And both are on HC. Rafa's weakest surface. NID.

Super scary, positively terrifying...

Hmm lets see, since I have zilch info on the ongoing USO, I shall backtrack using the Doha results. So that means, Novak won all his matches till the final in straight sets (he didn't), beat Roger in straight sets in the semi (he didn't), and Roger dropped 1 set enroute to the semi (he didn't, all straight sets). Perfect...

Except the similarities ended way back when. But yeah, go ahead and gloat over the realignment of the stars.

Rafa's last hard court title was at 2009 IW, let's see what hard court titles #s 2-4 have won since then:

Rogie: Cincinnati 2009, AO 2010, and Cincinnati 2010
Chokovic: Beijing 2009, Basel 2009, Paris 2009, Dubai 2010
Murray: Miami 2009, Canada 2009, Valencia 2009, Canada 2010

Looks like Rogie, Chokovic, and Murray have won their fair share while Rafa has done nothing on hard courts for the past 18 months.

Not sure you can go on that. Rafa is playing alot better on hard courts now. Serving in the 130s. Novak will have a better chance now with the rain delay, but Novak may choke I think. Tho, Novak can hit Rafa off the court if he plays at the top of his game. We'll see!

first of all, there's no comparison between the pre and post-monte carlo rafa of 2010.. in doha, rafa was still struggling with his form and confidence.. the rafa who lost that doha final is a far cry from the current rafa, who's playing the best hc tennis of his career..

one thing's for certain though.. if rafa beats nole tomorrow, neither the serbian nor his newfound fans, especially those crowing about rafa being 'screwed' tomorrow, will have any excuses left to plead.. cause nole will be perfectly well rested..

so, nole fans.. get used to the fact that if your boy loses on his favorite surface tomorrow, rafa will 'own' him on all slam surfaces: clay, grass and hc.. and at their two most important hc meetings: olympics and uso..

you guys prayed fo rain and you got your wish.. now start praying that your boy can actually pull off the match of his life tomorrow.. cause beating an over-the-hill roger in 5 sets is not the same as beating the current 24-year-old atp leader in 5, a guy nole has never beaten before in a best-of-five format or even taken to 4 sets before.. godspeed to your boy! :wavey:

Rafa 2008-2010 (although 2010 not yet completed) vs. Rogie 2004-2006

Rogie: 34 titles (11 Masters Shields, 8 Grand Slams, 2 Year-End Titles, 1 Olympic doubles title), 247-15 record
Rafa: 18 titles (9 Masters Shields, 5 Grand Slams, 0 Year-End Titles, 1 Olympic singles title), 206-31 record

Rafa also won: 2 Barcelonas and 1 Queen's Club
Rogie also won: 2 Dubais, 3 Halles, Gstaad, 2 Bangkoks, Doha, Rotterdam, and 1 Basel

As you can see: Rogie has the better overall record, Rogie had nearly double the titles, Rogie had more Masters Series Shields, Grand Slams, and Year-End Titles, Rogie at ages 22-25 vs. Rafa ages 21-24, around the same times, Rogie was better!

Everything you say proves untrue and false. You have doubted Rafa in every tournament, and then come running back on the bandwagon when he wins. If you say it will happen, then it definitely won't.

Tsonga was a mystery back then, and Nadal has dominated him on hardcourts since then, quite different situation.

Djokovic is going to have to win the 1st set to make me take him seriously.

Rafa has had a laughable draw. He has played 3rd round matches and spanish byes all the way to the final. Now Nole has rested enough after his match against Fed and will hopefully win it.

Btw Rafa is 2-13 vs top 10 on HC since IW -09 he has only won 2 times against Tsonga.:o

He's doing fine, thank you for worrying so much about him

As long as he rules clay and dominates grass, he can continue to lead the pack for a pretty long time, no matter what his results are on street-tennis, particularly since he is good enough to provide SF or even F results even when playing on parking-lots!!

you do realize of course that rafa went through the worst tendinitis fiasco of his career in '09, don't you? ;)

in other words, all of rafa's hc losses last year post miami must be taken with a huge grain of salt, as he was still struggling with lack of confidence and match toughness during the most horrendous slump of his career..

rafa's draw here is moot and irrelevant cause if those so-called 'super threats' couldn't even get past folks like wawrinka, what hopes did they ever have against rafa, right? again, ease of draw is moot..

murray would've gotten killed by rafa even if he'd managed to squeak past stan, just like youzhny got killed..

heck, murray has never even beaten a healthy, rested rafa at the majors.. ever! and this is the guy you thought was gonna threaten this new-and-improved rafa of '10 who hasn't even dropped a set on his way to the final? haha funny! :wavey:

Rafa has had a laughable draw.

You still don't know what a draw is? Nothing laughable about his draw. The laughs come in after seeing all the presumed favourites on his draw failing to make their matches against Rafa.

Once again, we go through the same shit: a player (Murray, Nalby, etc) fail... but it ends spoiling the reputation of the player who does what was originally expected of him.

Yes, that's exactly why he already has a GS on HC.... just like Murray (1/0 = infinite).

It's really ridiculous your not knowing what a draw is!
All the flack Nadal is getting for doing his homework is only Murray's fault for failing so miserably to do his and allowing Wawrinka to school him!

Why should Rafa pay the price for Murray's pathetic showing in NY?

Deep inside, you know I'm right about that, but you won't acknowledge it. Now that's petty!
