Who can challenge King Rafa in the next 3 years?

nadal has grown into an unbeatable force in slams.......who will be that player who will take him to 5 sets at the french open? who can step it up against him on grass? there is some hope for others on hardcourts but that seems to be disappearing fast with his improving hardcourt game day by day.......

once the us open concludes, this is the question which will occur to everyone.......vote and discuss.......

If he's 'unbeatable' then wtf is the point of making a thread about who can beat him...

Hmm, lets see.. Federer, Djokovic, Delpo, Murray, Gulbis, Berdych etc.

fed could not even challenge in his peak, what can he do now? murray is too passive to pose any threat......gulbis and berdych don't even belong in the discussion.......the level of domination is getting close to unreal.......these berdychs and soderlings were thought to be his threats, look what he did to them this year......djokovic and juan martin might be the ones but i am still not sure about them either.......

like you said, we will have to wait and see if there's any answer to nadal.......

I'm not talking about now, but the future Gulbis, the one who has made improvments to his game.. yes, I think he could challenge Rafa in the future.

Ehm, Murray is a HUGE threat to Rafa, at least on hard courts, and especially indoors. Did you see Rafa's match at the WTF in London? Rafa played his very best but still only barely managed to win against Murray.

Federer is coming back. He's playing better and better, and surely is a threat to Rafa during the AO.

Djokovic is good, but yes, Rafa has beat him in their last few meetings. I think Rafa perhaps has the slight advantage when they play each other. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he did beat Rafa at the AO.

Murray was the only player to beat Nadal 2 times in 2010 and beat Nadal in a GS and ended year 2-2 against Nadal. In last 8 GS Nadal has won 4 and lost 4 times of which 2 were to Murray. Yet you exclude him from your poll.

Soderling and Federer also justified inclusion in the poll as you can have up to 10 options.

On grass, I think Roger is the only one who could beat Rafa, maybe Andy Roddick (playing and serving out of his mind) as well (one of the top 5 grass courters at the moment, though don't know if he will still be playing in 3 years time)

On HC, Nole, Murray, Roger, Delpo (when fit and healthy), Davy (not sure if he's still playing in 3 years time though), Robin are all a big threat to Rafa.

On clay, don't really see any player, maybe just maybe Nole will manage to step it up one day and get that win over Rafa, but I don't see Nole beating Rafa at RG. Also, if Robin can dial in a repeat performance of RG '09, then who knows. Will be interested to see how a fit and healthy JMDP does against Rafa, will be interesting. So I am going to say only Nole, Delpo and Robin have a minute chance of challenging Rafa on the dirt.

If Djokovic defeats Nadal in the final, he'll have sealed the deal. He'll have gotten past his WORST nightmares.

He's defeated Federer who was heading downhill. Now he'll have defeated a young Nadal and all the confidence of the world will rest on his soul.

Already at this point, Djokovic knows he the hardcourts are pretty much a given. But if he can defeat Nadal on clay or grass, he'll know he can win more than 1 slam per year.

There's a good chance it can be a once in a life time French Open Final 5 setter given that Nadal has the endurance to push him. Would be crazy for that to happen, but I'd love to see it.

As a Federer fan, I wouldn't be sure, who to root for because if Nadal were to win, he'd be in the double digits (10 slams), if Djokovic were to win, he'd have his first slam title outside of hard courts, and he'd have his first slam victory over Nadal.
