For those who say Nadal was in his prime 05- 07

I guess this proves how wrong everyone is who bought into this theory of Nadal being in his prime 05-07. Back when he was getting crushed by the Ferrers and Youzhnys of the world at FLushing .
This just shows you how far Nadal has come since 2006. 4 years ago Youzhny was blowing Nadal off the court at Flushing with ease. Little bit different now

So for those you say Nadal was in his prime 05-07... well this just proves you couldnt be any more wrong. Hes leaps and bounds above where he was back then overrall.

Fed only dominated to the level he did because Nadal was still so young and green..

I don't know that people say that a lot.

Nadal's peak was IMO 2008 so far.

2010 might be close, especially if he wins in the US Open. But his level of tennis was higher in 2008 in my opinion, since Federer and Djokovic were better in 2008, Murray has improved slightly.

I've never heard anyone say Nadal was in his prime 2005-2007.

Nadal's peak was 2008.

He was fantastic in 2008... but that still didn't touch any Federer year from 2004-2007.

Nice shit-thread to encourage yourself. Nadal played way better in 2008, but then he wasn't facing the hordes of mugs.

Good luck in making new records against mugs and Olderer, Rafa!

Nadal is playing a lot better now on hardcourts than he played in 2008. He won the Olympic Gold on hardcourts but even in that he played less attacking, nothing like he's playing now. If 2008 was his prime then 2010 is his superior prime. And in 2010 he won all the clay masters titles for the first time.

It's funny because almost everyone was laughing when Federer at the beginning of this year talked about how we "hadn't seen the best Rafa yet". Back then a lot of MTF'ers thought that Nadal was finished. Federer has always had huge belief in Nadal. So have I, by the way.

Uhm...try 2010 and you'd be closer to the truth. Three grand slams on three different surfaces. That elevates him above Federer's run a few years back when he won @ the Aussie, SW19 & Flushing Meadows.

Federer was terrible in 2008. Could barely string wins together that weren't in slams, especially during the American hard court season. That was the worst year for media speculation about retirement and whether he was done...only thing that saved the year for him was the USO.

Djokovic on the other hand has never been better than the 2008 season.

Yep. Their friendship truly is amazing. Lots of mutual respect there :)

You might have a point on Federer there but let's remember at least he made FO and Wimbledon finals after the AO "fiasco" and won the USO. This year: AO-win, FO-Q, W-Q, US-S.
