Does anyone who know who, and when they happened?

Stats wonks, start your engines...

We could be in for a nice bit of tennis history tomorrow if the SF results fall that way...

Lendl vs Wilander has three, Finals at the French, Australian and US Open.

Sampras vs Agassi has three, Finals at the Australian, Wimbledon and US Open, plus a QF at the French.

I've checked. I may have missed something but I think it has never happened.

a fedal final tomorrow would further consolidate their rivalry as the greatest in the history of the game

In the Open Era, it has never happened. Before that, probably something like Laver vs. Emerson.

Williams sisters?

The womens game is a whole other story, The Williams sisters did it in 02/03, 4 consecutive finals from Roland Garros to the Australian Open that they contested. Navratilova/Evert have done it at least twice at all the slams(even 3 times not counting the US Open). That is probably the best rivalry in the game of tennis. Graf/Seles have also done it.

Its a whole other ball game when talking about Mens Tennis.

Laver and Emerson seem to have done 3 but not Wimbledon.

So far I can't find any two male players who have fought for the title at all four majors against each other.

You can't find it cause it has never happened, after and before the Open Era.

I didn't think so.

So tomorrow's final could be a unique bit of tennis history.

I didn't think so.

So tomorrow's final could be a unique bit of tennis history.

The same situation was last year when Nadal and Federer were in the semifinals.

BTW, Ken Rosewall and Lew Hoad played 3 different finals in one year (1956), they didn't play only in Paris. Hoad won 3 first majors of the season and lost in 4 sets at the US Open final to Rosewall after taking the first set. Maybe due to those two lacking sets, Hoad is one of the most underrated players in the history.

I guess Daniel Brands and Michael Berrer had some GS finals against each other.

Interesting stuff. Would be historic in several ways.

It's interesting to me because it would be the actual first.

I mean, so many records that go these days are like "the fourth person to do this" or "the sixth person in history to do that"

But this would be a genuine first.

Well the wait for this to happen goes on - and probably for a very long time....
