So which semi will be scheduled first on Saturday? Nole vs Fed or Rafa vs Youzhny?

Nadal vs Youzhny as the first one would be much more fair, as both were all 2 weeks one day behind.
What's more, Federer with Djokovic sounds like a better match (two top class players). Normally I would expect the more interesting match to be the second one.
Thoughts?

Good to see Stupid Saturday getting the crap it deserves. Nothing will beat JCF's effort in 2003 though.

Last year Federer played with Nole as the second ones, although they were in the half that started the tournament...

No. It won't be fair. Nadal Youzhny match is a 2 hour match max. Fed Djok can be 3 hours or more

Nadal versus my left nut is a 3 hour match. Nadal doesn't play two hour matches.

Most propably Federer - Djokovic. Look at the women's side. The better match up with Venus and Clijsters is also scheduled second.

Yeah, I think Federer - Djokovic will go second. That's been the case I think for the past few years.

Sadly, I can see the schedulers come to a similar conclusion. The only "fair" thing, however, would be having the matches played simultaneously, on the two main courts, so as not to give any player an unfair advantage, but we all know that's not gonna happen :)

Federer-Djokovic will be second and will probably go at least 4 if not 5 close sets, so whoever wins will be nice and tired for Nadal in the final after his exhibition against Youzhny.

This "schedule" is erroneous. The order of play is not up yet for Saturday, besides - day 13 starts at 11am..... Rafaholico is getting ahead of him/herself.

Yes but what s/he wrote might be true though. Look at the women's SF schedule - Caro/Vera play first even though they played second in QF and Venus/Kim play second in SF even though they played their QF matches a day before Caro and Vera. So I think Fed/Nole match will be played second as well for TV and ads reasons.

it may well be that Rog/Novak are on second, but it is rather misleading to be posting a made up order of play. Wait and see, dont make posts which look "official' but in fact are untrue.

Where was the fairness when Murray and Nadal killed each other while Federer was resting for the final and won it easily?

If they put Federer Djokovic first despite their traditions it will only show how desperate they are. Anyway whatever match play first Federer cries Saturday or Sunday.

For the sake of a decent final, I'm hoping Fed/Djoko will be first, that has the potential to have some length to it. Much as I would like otherwise, it'd be a minor miracle if the Colonel took a set off Nadal.

I dont think he cries win or lose sunday final against rafa. If he wins he will graciously raise his hands, warm exchange with Rafa at the net and act pretty calm and cool like winning at the USO was expected from the GOAT. He will dorn a smile for the rest of the evening and be very complimentary of Rafa's good run at the USO and great year and that he has no doubt that Rafa will complete his career slam as he is a fantastic player etc.

If he loses he will patiently wait for Rafa at the net to get up from the ground and then warmly he will embrace Rafa and congratulate him with a smile on his face. The diappointment will show up on his face when he gets seated toweling himself but he will end up showering high compliments on Rafa and begin to feel better thinking about his daughters.

the two semifinals are going to be back to back. There is no night session. First one starts at 11 and the next follows immediately after. So you should see both matches completed well before 5 pm unless they turn into marathons and then the second match extends into the evening under lights.

this back to back semifinal and final rule at the USO must be the worst rule in tennis. it ruins the spectacle in the final if one semi goes very long(say 4 hours) if 2 top ranked players are having a slugfest and the other semi has top player playing a newcomer and wins the match in 2 hours.

no recovery time.

the dumbest rule in tennis today!

USO has the worst scheduling in tennis, followed by the AO with semifinals in different days.

A few hours is likely to be a minor advantage to Nadal.

Having a much easier semi-final against Youzhny is the key advantage for Nadal.

However, the more attacking and energy efficient game of Federer will give him an advantage over the more defensively minded Nadal on the back to back matches.

Obviously if the umpire is weak and fails to enforce the time to serve rule on Nadal the first match could last a long time.
