Misha hopefully will maintain his 100% record on hard courts

H2H 2-2
Hard 2-0 Misha
Wawrinka won both on clay

Youzhny will take this. He has the slightly better game and Wawrinka will not have enough in the tank.

I want Stan to win this.

I think he can. Therefore, he will.

In 5.

Personally I like Mischa and Stan. I hope they both do well and I don't really care who wins, but, to answer the question: Stan in 5.

Should be a great match to watch, some of the best one handers in the game, both guys can play at the net as well(especially Youzhny).I think Mischa will have more in the tank and will win in 4,Stan let Querrey match go longer than it should have and I think he'll pay the price. You never know though,I didn't expect Stan to hold it together mentally against Murray and yet he did so maybe he'll surprise me again.

Will Youzhny Complete his Cake with a tired and injured Stan:shrug:

It depends how much Wawrinka has in tank. Youzhny is a tough player no doubt but I think if Stan can produce the form he has shown in beating Murray and Querrey, he will be quite handful for Youzhny as well. But at the end of the Querrey match, Stan looked tired so I will give the edge to Youzhny.

Wind might play quite a big part - it did in their last match in Miami (Wawrinka handles it better).

Wawrinka is winning this match. It's destiny. An all Swiss final... Wawrinka V Federer on Sunday...

No seriously, Wawrinka will come through. I think he's such an under rated player. If he can hold it together, he's dangerous. I just don't think he'll have enough left in the tank to take out Nadal (H2H 6-0 in favour of you know who).

I think that Youzhny will win.

Even though Stan has played well in this tournament, at his heart he's still more of a clay court player, while Youzhny is a fast-court player. Combine that with two consecutive grueling wins for Wawa, I think Mikhail will take this in 3.

Youzhny is obviously having a great year. Not sure going to 4 sets with Robredo is a sign he's in unbeatable form. Stan tends to get better the more matches he plays.

wow, huge majority on the clay leaning one confronting the hard leaning one at the USO

50-50 match with Waw taking it in 4 coz he is the more powerful and sharper player. Misha is becoming a moonballer lately and that sux

Not for the majority of MTF though as it seems. Moonballers are highly rated these days

i'm actually wondering why

He's hardly Sampras

And Youzhny is hardly Agassi.

Waw was considered dead meat for Querrey and he very much beat the American convincingly. He's a very emotional guy and these wins mean a lot to him, confidence is high and that'll make him hard to break.

Youzhny knows the drill, he's been around for so long, this quarter is not really "the run of his career".

Two days ago, Querrey was surely in the semies against Nadal and now this. Only on mtf. lol

Wawrinka will win one of the first two sets.....i think first.....he needs this one done in 3

Maybe hes fine physically but mentally i doubt it...hes surely not as sharp and tough as he was before his match with Murray.....won bunch of big points last few days...when the adrenaling is pumping those can only help but the next day you feel empty

once Mischa breaks his spirit and grinds him down hell fall like a cheap tent

I like both players although I'll be rooting for Stan in this one. I hope we get to see 4 or 5 sets of great backhand to backhand rallies (if the wind permits) but I think at the end of the day Youzhny will take this in 4. I'm not sure that Wawrinka has that much left in the tank, unfortunately.

damn you really doubt his mental strength dont you?

please take into his account his new sparkling crazy coaching staff that have given him new found confindence, that win over murray could be the making of a very good player, backed up big time against tough nut sam q in the next round too, always thought he had a top 5 backhand.

if isnt injured i cant see how misha wins, all the momemtum is with wawa, he is the story of the mens draw.

Who exactly considered him dead meat? Made me some money. The fact that Misha has experience at this level is a plus, not a disadvantage. The fact that Stan played a marathon also favors the Colonel. It's not 50:50 any more, even disregarding that I consider Youzhny mentally tougher at this point in time.

Either way, I was mainly making fun of the extreme exaggeration that one break would necessarily be enough to clinch the set.

Who will win?

if the fact that the russian leads the swiss 2:0 in hc meetings ('10 miami masters: 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 and '07 canada masters: 6-4, 6-4) is any indication, i would give the russian the edge, especially since stan's had the slightly more taxing road in his previous 2 rounds and thus may be the infinitely less mentally fresh of the two..

that said.. i would much rather see rafa face stan in the semis..

I think Wawrinka improved his serve and fitness. So he'll be solid if the injury is not nagging him.

Clearly you have not watched any of Youzhny's matches this fortnight, at all.

I guess Youzhny the edge based on their games, talent, histories, and matches coming into this QF. However, Youzhny rarely makes things easy for himself.

Youzhny in 4.

Even though Mikhail has lost the first set and the second set is a muggy breakfest and my prediction of 3-0 win for Misha is screwed, how in the world can you suggest that Youzhny is more of a clay court player than Wawrinka looking at their respective games and results?

The wind is better for Wawa who can afford to be more defensive with his shots.
