Andy is still no.4 thankfully. A slightly erratic last few months finishes 2010.

2010 was a good year though. 2 MS titles, no.4 ranking kept and good finishes in the slams, bar US Open.
Now we can rest until 2011, and so can Andy

Andy's Results

China Open, Beijing

1st: def. Paul-Henri MATHIEU (FRA) 6-2 6-3
2nd: def. Albert MONTA—…S (ESP) 7-5 6-3
QFs: lt. Ivan LJUBICIC (CRO) 3-6 2-6

Another WTF moment in Murray's career, pretty bad loss.....

Onto Shanghai next....

Shanghai Masters, Shanghai

1st: BYE
2nd: def. Yan BAI (CHN) [WC] 6-2 6-2
3rd: def. Jeremy CHARDY (FRA) 6-3 6-4
QFs: def. Jo-Wilfried TSONGA (FRA) [12] 6-2 6-2
SFs: def. Juan MONACO (ARG) 6-4 6-1
Fin: def. Roger FEDERER (SWI) [3] 6-3 6-2

Great week for Andy, defeating Federer in another masters final....very easy title....hardest match was Chardy in the 3rd round......
Captured his 16th title, 2nd of the season and 6th masters title....and has qualified for WTF....congrats Andy :D :clap2:

Valencia next, where he is the second seed....

Valencia Open, Valencia

1st: def. Feliciano LOPEZ (SPA) 6-3 7-6(1)
2nd: lt. Juan MONACO (ARG) 2-6 6-3 2-6

Yet again, another WTF moment....comfortably beat Monaco in Shanghai...but now plays like utter crap.
Should play better in Paris considering it's a masters event...wouldn't be surprised to see him win it to be honest.

Paris Masters

R1: BYE
R2: def. David NALBANDIAN (ARG) 2-6 6-4 6-3
R3: vs. Marin CILIC (CRO) [13] 7-6(8-6) 3-6 6-3
QFs: lt. GaŽl Monfils (FRA) [11] 2-6 6-2 3-6

On to WTF, where he is ranked no.5.
He can get to no.3 if he does well here.
He's in Group B, Along with Federer, Soderling and Ferrer.

WTF, London

RR1: def. Robin Soderling (SWE) [4] 6-2 6-4
RR2: lt. Roger Federer (SWI) [2] 2-6 4-6
RR3: def. David Ferrer (SPA) [7] 6-2 6-2 :worship:
SFs: lt. Rafael Nadal (SPA) [1] 6-7(5) 6-3 6-7(6)

Slightly disappointing, but he lost to a good opponent.

Now, he trains hard in the off season and hopefully comes back with a vengeance next year.

See you all in 2011

Cmon, Andy :rocker2:

Hmm. Mathieu qualified so he's already had a couple of matches.

Could be tricky.

Then again, Andy has tended to handle PHM pretty comfortably in the past.

Not that that means anything :D

Murray through 75 63

He was a break down in both sets - Albert served for the first at 5-4 then lost 2 service games in a row. He was also 2-0 up in the second before losing 5 straight games.

Scrappy from Andy but he got it done.

Good, I can watch that one then.

Though I don't like it when he plays Ljuba Truba. He can be a handful even though these days he looks a bit of a spent force. But he showed in IW he can still get hot occasionally.

Tsonga looked very flat today and didn't bring much to the party, but Andy got on top early and never let Tsonga flip him over to take a turn in charge.

Decent from Andy - bit of an odd blip at the end of the first set and he was a bit lucky that Monaco went to pieces when Monaco missed that smash (good defence from Andy in that point though) - but thereafter, good play.

First serve % from Andy a bit low though - and below 40% in that second set

I glad the brothers are still in the Tournament :D It gives Andy more Match time play, but he doesn't have to do everything on his own. Plus in Doubles the Matches help players with their net play.

They've taken the first set 10-8 in the TB. I checked and he and Jamie have made a doubs final before (Bangkok 2006) but never won a tourney together - would be nice if they can hold on to this set too :)

Nalbandian or Granollers first.
Nalbandian could be tricky, but then again, look what happened in Toronto.
Granollers won't be a threat.

After that, it looks fairly easy. He's got Cilic, Monfils and Verdasco in his quarter, all of them either playing badly (Verdasco, Cilic) or not good enough to beat Murray (Monfils).

Then, probably Federer in the semis? We know what happens in 3 set tourneys between these two.
Then the final?

Good win by Andy. He was comprehensively outplayed by Nalbandian in the first set, but probably as a result of Nalbandian settling down to the conditions better from 1st round match and Andy not having played competitively in a while. I was impressed and slightly amused when he changed his tactics and served & volleyed his way out of the second setand into a decider. The doubles title with brother Jamie was put to good use ;) Worried about the wrist, hope no lasting effects. Good luck for the rest of the tournament.

It was an amazing match to watch live!

Great tennis from both for the most part except for these odd little lapses from David at the end of the second and third sets - couple of loose points and it was all over.

I thought Andy didn't play badly in set 1 but he was hanging back and letting David come at him, and Nalbandian was coming forward a lot and he was all over Andy's game like a rash. In the second and third, Andy was much more aggressive, a lot of serve-volley in the second set and I think the pressure on Nalbandian from Andy's changed tactics is what told in the end.

Andy also served amazing - the first serve % was average but he was doing huge damage with it, and his second serve was being hit pretty huge as well to stop David from being able to attack it all the time.

Plus, Andy had a lot of support from the French crowd, I thought, they made a nice atmosphere, especially at the crunch moments.

Such fun to be there and see Andy involved in a competitive match and a satisfying win.

Just hope that wrist is nothing to worry about - wouldn't be an Andy match without some sort of injury concern....

And I wonder how that wrist is after that injury in the Match with Nalby? And Monfils has been down on the court almost as much as he has been standing up on court  He really does need a different pair of shoes I think  Or maybe that is just the way he entertains the French crowd  The falls all look terrible, but he never seems to really get hurt so maybe that is just the way he plays

I know the O2 has a slower surface but if they both carry their Paris form to the O2 Sod would be the favourite in that one. Difficult to see Ferrer doing anyone any harm. Another Andy-Fed matchup though - have to say I'm a bit worried about that one too!

Expected a fight-back in the second set, instead of this disappointing capitulation. Every set, every game conceded counts - he knows this from experience. A dog-fight against Ferrer is the last thing he needs, especially if Soderling beats Federer or even takes a set off him.

Fingers and all else crossed that he makes it to the semi-final. But seriously, he's too talented to need luck.

MsTree

Win a fucking set Andy for the love of CHRIST.

I don't want another fiasco like last year where he packs up and goes home based on Game Difference.

I still remember that Federer-Del Potro match - they stitched Andy up perfectly. Not saying it was at all intentional but they managed to pull off a pretty unlikely scenario.

MsTree

I had been at the Verdasco match in the afternoon and I just had a bad feeling when he dropped that set!!! My pal and I listened to the Fed - Del Potro match on the radio and it just seemed to slip to its inevitable - if unlikely - conclusion. How the hell they didn't know who had gone through and Delpo and Tevez had time for a kickabout while they worked it out is beyond me!!!
Andy doesn't even need a set, if he loses 6-4 6-4 that'll be enough games (I think) But for his (and my) mental health I want him to win in straights!!!
