Logical more so than funny.

Definitely, it's a smart decision. There are actually two challengers in Bangkok back to back before the ATP event, it's a wise choice for sure. I only meant it's interesting, not something you see every day.

why'd sergei pull out?

As I know, after Granby challenger Sergei met with car accident and sustained some injuries. For this reason he was forced to withdraw from Vancouver and Binghamton tournaments. To my great relief, later he appeared in the USOpen qualifying, but wasn't in a good shape and retired in the 2nd match. So, I guess he still has some consequences of that car crash. Unfortunately, I don't know more details...

yeah i heard about the car accident he was in, i thought he and peter polansky were in the same car though?

Congrats to Grigor on his victory.

Regarding all these retirements and so called "food poisoning". I was in that region a couple times and felt deeply all local conditions. You could eat fresh sea food under standard cleaness conditions ... and got some illness and symptoms like poisoning. The reason is new microflora for your body organism and its immune reaction to this microflora. The microflora is everywhere and for most europeans and americans it is needed a few weeks to obtain immunity against it. The typical manifestations during first days/weeks after arriving are weakness, diarrhea etc. Even if you are healthy young man, suddenly you could fall in deep sleep for 20 hours and it's impossible to wake you up...

I think a Japanese player or Recouderc will win the title, with the obvious favorite of the Japanese players being Soeda. I think Kudry has a decent shot at beating Soeda in R2, though. I'll be interested to see if Tomic can beat a player like Kravchuk who smacks balls around, and if he can use his court craft effectively in that match. Also, I wonder if Gremelmayr will frustrate Dima into making erros and losing.

Dima is the best player in the draw but whether he's ready physically to take this is unclear. If so, he's gonna win it.

Don't believe everything you read on the ATP website, the stats are often out of date. I have seen James in person and he is indeed 'lanky' however I really don't believe that it bears any correlation to his power levels, he is capable of exploding through a forehand and serving at 130mph.

I'd like to point at the fact, that if tomorrow Grigor Dimitrov wins the final, he will become the youngest player in TOP 150.
In spite of the bad end of the season last year, and the injury after a Davis cup match this spring, Dimitrov is may be the player with the best growing up in the ranglist, and I think there are wonderful and very successful days ahead in his career.

I am also happy that a Balkan player is about to win in Bangkok...

Dimitrov was really impressive in Juniors and I thought he will be the next Balkan star, but he is now 19 and at that age Nadal Gasquet or Nole were top 30.

A lot of players under 18, playing only part of the circuit (Dimitrov is playing full time for about one year) are promising a lot, i can give some serbian exemples (Filip Krajinovic, Marko Djokovic) BUT I am sure other people have some from their own country...

No offense in my post, because i really hope Grigor is raising but I am also afraid because I saw him choking a couple of time and I wonder if his guts are the same level as his talent...

ANYWAY, no one knows what will happen, Federer has no patience when younger and suddenly changed to become the Goat.

Congrats on the title and top 150 position, Grigor! What an amazing few months it's been for him. Shows you what confidence and new coaching with a new fresh attitude and perspective can do to a player. He's growing right in front of all of our eyes. Great score in the final also, he really shows up for the finals, great sign of mental strength. Good luck to him throughout the rest of the season, hopefully this run of from continues.
