It's not as strong as editions past but still a good field. I wonder who the WCs will go to. Clearly Przsiezny and Janowicz have no intention of playing here.

Janowicz and Przysiężny will play DC.

With now Santi, Fede and Jeremy having withdrawn from the tournament, my interest is way down. I guess the positive is there are fewer of my favorites to root for. The overall list though definitely isn't as good as it usually is. I bet Luke will lost R1 regardless.

Good luck to Nico, Igor, Pablo, Daniel and Mischa!

Man, Dani really needed a good draw and he got Pablo. Too bad. The winner of that match should make the SF.

The third quarter is really weak. Gaba should take it but you never know with him.

I expect either Massu/Patience/Rosol to make it out of the first section. I don't see Kubot winning any more than 1 or 2 matches.

The second quarter is the best, Huta Galung should be tired from the amount of tennis he's been playing lately. Dustin sucks on clay this season, and Kamke and Andreev haven't had great results, so anyone can make it through there. Hopefully it's Igor.

Good luck to all of my favorites!

Hello from the beautiful city of Szczecin! Matches start on Monday at 2.30 pm local time. I have arrived today afternoon and haven't seen any of the quallies. I only know Gaba withdrew for personal reasons  (maybe doesn't want to see me).

Tomorrow early I go to the hairstylist and later should spend my time following the practise sessions and the matches, and write all the cool stuff for my website :)

As you can see the lack of my articles on the tournament's official website seriously decreases its value :D Do you think that dude who's making interviews is prettier than me on cam last year? :awww: :awww:

The technical issues on the website are usually fine, the tournament also has got Facebook page (which you can click from the main page you entry www.pekaoszczecinopen.eu ) but in case of any troubles I leave my phone number +48502245094 (please, only texts, no calls, I won't pick up).

The weather is bad :scared: Danger of rain. Actually - atm it's raining.

I am sad cos I have only a Sony HD photo cam which makes videos but they save in BNP file and there's no converter for it online, and my friend can't find that Sony's CD in his house  So it looks like I won't give you the video interviews :o But anyway I wouldn't look good enough in the rain without the proper hairstyle, so maybe it's good :)

I only saw him once in Scheveningen, against Darcis, but I think he's really talented. Still way too rough around the edges, seems very insecure at the net, but his forehand was really powerful and he's got a good serve too. I don't know if he really will crack the Top 100, but he should be able to do better than guys like Reister.

Heavy rain, no game today.

And it seems to game this week :scared: They don't have anything indoors, will need to build a tent probably or no way this event can be finished (unless the forecast changes of course, but so far it's really bad).

Martijn, I think I saw this Struff guy when I was getting myself soaked in front of the tournament office :o Two German speaking chaps pingpong22 and I didn't know and she attended quallies so she saw those dudes :o

Fortunately the sky is clear now, matches should start in 10 minutes. Smola vs. Brown is on the central court, next is Cuevas vs. Koellerer

Court 1 - Gawron vs. Lustig (I've heard Lustig serves very very well in the Q  ) and then Sijsling vs. Mecir

Court 2 - Rochelle vs. Sergeyev, then doubles

Daniel is playing so well right now. This is by far the best I've seen from him this year. Aggressive, hitting hard, net game. But he's mad about I think people in the crowd making noise or the ballgirls, and he and Cuevas looked like they were about to have a confrontation.

Pablo is making tons of errors, I can see why he's been struggling. The crowd is starting to get into it a bit.

*5-2 Koellerer

1. As for a tape, someone from the press office bothered to show on the court in the middle of the second set so it was too late to tape the best parts (incl. a fight) but they certainly taped the retirement. Reportedly from the stream it looked like the Cuevas' racquet hit Dani. I was sitting right in front of that freak event and I am convinced it was a net supporting pole that moved (it was certainly torn later) but it happened so quickly I'd like to view the replay :)

And everybody will be able to view it here:

2. It was a calf and not an ankle obviously; sorry for a sick mistake, I was too exhausted last night and used bad English.

3. I didn't see little Cuevas playing but I'll try to go to their doubles to make some fuss with my red lipstick :). I took a pic of him.

4. In 10-15 minutes I'll add pics to my report. There won't be the Dani pics as I was too busy writing down what exactly he was shouting, you will certainly find photos on the tournament website from the link I gave above.

true... but he has shown a lot of times in the past that he'll never change. with the mental conscience of an average human being he would be a solid top100 player, especially on clay.

btw: he played really good against melzer last weekend. not much drama, nice rallyes, just good tennis from both players. köllerer won, but melzer wasn't playing 100% (the title had been won already, daviscup this week, wasn't pleased to play a 3rd set even though both players had agreed on playing a champions tiebreak instead - referee refused!, etc.). anyway, really good play by köllerer that day!

if he would manage to play 3-4 games like the last one against melzer in a row... no use to think about that, will most probably never happen ;-)

Mischa, I'm so disappointed in you. Three straight games at the end of the match he had opportunities and failed to take them. Jesse was just coming off winning last week in his country tournament; he should have taken advantage. I really wonder if he'll be a challenger player for the rest of his career, I can't believe how far he's fallen.

Extremely expected result, the bottom line is, I respect Dustin so much for everything he's been through, but he simply isn't that good of a tennis player. Millot didn't do much that play his usual game, and that's all it took for a victory.

Bullshit. It wasn't extremely expected. Dustin was leading the h2h and would have won today with an average performance.

any predictions for the doubles matches

andreev/lojda vs munoz/galung
cuevas/cuevas vs bednerek/zverev

nathi? flyboy?

I'd pick Munoz/Galung for sure. The other match.................could be interesting. I'd say the Germans, they are more natural doubles players, but that's 50-50 for me. Pablo is a good doubles player and the brothers together will bring extra motivation.

It was extremely expected on my side. I would have been shocked if Dustin won. His results in general haven't been good lately, but especially in these clay challengers, he's not doing anything. Also, they only played once in an official match, in a future, where Millot retired. Lastly, Millot wouldn't allow Dustin to play average, he basically allowed Dustin to self-destruct, which most players do, and it works a large part of the time.

Millot is a pretty good matchup imo, it was just a bad day for Dustin. He still had lots of break points.

Not extremely imo, but still expected. Brown is crazy to play a these clay challengers where he gets eliminated 1st or 2nd round. Why not play St. Remy?! Is he really that stubborn or eager to show that he's good on clay?

Extremely expected results today so far. As Ad Wim put it perfectly, Kubot is a challenger player and right now, a mediocre one. He's probably right behind Zeballos as the most overranked player in the top 100. He had his flash in the pan, and by the end of the year/after Costa next February his ranking will reflect his real level. The truth is he's a better player than Rosol and probably could hang around 85-110 in the rankings but his confidence and fitness level are low right now. Too bad to see him playing so badly in his home country event, though.

Good to see Pablo and Igor back. These points are going to help both players a lot for their rankings and as Flyboy well mentioned probably a bit more for Igor. However it is going to be more helpful for Igor who needs to be back in the top 90-100.

Pablo can still return back to the top 50 and play a stable calendar in the ATP. Igor is probably playing the last two years of his best tennis so a victory here can help him to be ranked closed to the top 90. For Pablo a victory here can help him to return to the top 70.

BTW, it was a good week for Olivier and Daniel
