Who would've thought Hewitt would own th year grand Slam, but the loser's one! ;)

Losing to all eventual champions in all Slams, gotta be something for the record books, can he make it 5 in a row on Australia?

Didn't Venus have a similar year in 2002 losing all those finals to little sis. Lleyton knows that his game is way too light weight to pose a threat to Federer, who has gone up several levels since the Aussie ruled as world no.1. Only Agassi in top form can de-rail the Fedex on hardcourts and indoors. Will be interesting to see how things pan out at the Masters events in Madrid, Paris and Houston.

No, Venus lost 3 of four, I don't remember who she lost to at the Australian or even if she played.

As Serena completed her "Serena Slam", Venus completed her "wooden spoon Slam" at Aussie Open of 2003. That's what i was referring to (2002/2003).

Sharapova has done the same this year.

If Roge wins tomorrow, then it will be a slam again for hewitt, although since he did not play in Paris, I guess it will not be a Calendar Year slam. But then all players go through him to win the other 3

Hewitt won the Loser's Grand Slam this year?

He didn't play the French Open ...

Sharapova won the true "Loser's Grand Slam" this year ... losing the Serena, Justine, Venus, and Kim, respectively.

In the last 6 slams Hewitt has played he has lost to the eventual Champion.

2004 AO - Federer
2004 FO - Gaudio
2004 W - Federer
2004 USO - Federer
2005 AO - Safin
2005 W - Federer

Tomorrow he will make it 7 in a row.

Poor, poor bastard.

This is last year's thread that i bump up .... ;)

I said (few posts above yours) that this year he came close, but not quite because he did not play in Paris

I bumped it up because sharapova wins the Loser's slam this year and did not want to create the new thread because this is not WTAworld

Better than losing in the first round.

It is sad, but one may also take a positive from it. It has taken the best player of the whole tournament to stop him each time. By the law of large numbers this will not go on for ever. He has to work on other tournaments to keep the ranking high and avoid Roge or marat till the final. I feel badly for leyton - if he wins today I would root for him in the final

No, it is not an insult to leyton, if it takes the best player of the tournament to beat him. leyton himself has said this -if anyone has won the slam in the last 7 one, they have to beat him first
Who has said that it is a bad thing? sharapova has done same thing this year, it is an accomplishment shows consistnecy

Hewitt losing to the eventual champion goes all the way back to the French Open 2004 so its actually been 6 in a row (not counting this years french since he didn't play)
