Last acceptance - Stepanek and Monaco!!

How is this possible? They should have been given a WC for this q-draw right?! Because they weren't on the original entry list. But it doesn't say they got a WC...

How is this possible? They should have been given a WC for this q-draw right?! Because they weren't on the original entry list. But it doesn't say they got a WC...There are no qualifying entry lists for 250 (& lower) tournaments. Any player who isn't already on the entry list of an ATP or challenger tournament can sign in for qualifying spots.

Okay thanks. I knew there weren't quali lists for 250s, but thought that quali draws only existed of players that are alternates on the entry lists.

You see quite a few highgly ranked guys in quali tournaments who get a WC to enter, and then are topseed, why then? They don't need it in your explanation. I remember Tursunov in Zagreb last year, as an example.

They don't need it in your explanation.Maybe in a 500 tournament if a player didn't enter by the deadline (& the tournament wouldn't give him a wild card for the main draw), he would get a wild card for the qualifying & thus become one of the top seeds, but in a 250 or lower tournament there are no qualifying entry lists, only sign-ins, so there's no way any player in the top fifty would need a wild card to enter.

I remember Tursunov in Zagreb last year, as an example.
Zagreb 2009? Tursunov did not receive a wild card:

Rufin def. Monaco 7-6 6-3, even despite Monaco's injury problems, Rufin's best win to date vs #31 (previous best vs #81).

What the fuck is Alan Anderson, Fabio? I can't believe how inconsistent he is. He better play Genova after the US Open or he'll be out of the top 100 by the end of the year.

Bjorn with another opening round loss. And he won more overall points. Bester is a talented player, though. Hopefully Bjorn gets a decent draw for the US Open, he needs it.

Rufin finally showing what he can do, but Pico clearly is not fully back yet from his injury, plus this is hard court, so not too surprising a loss. But a win like that can get the young Frenchman on the right path.

Great win for Stepanek over Sweeting. Playing qualifying and getting wins under his belt will only help Radek further put his injury/sickness issues in the past and gain confidence. I hope Gaba beats him in the final Q round, though.

Dustin put back to back wins together, that's surprising. Maybe that means he's back in good form.

Lastly, congrats to PHM for making it to the final Q round, hopefully he destroys Kuku tomorrow.

3 good wins for Dustin to qualify. What he was doing in Europe playing clay challengers instead of playing the American hard court events, I'll never know.

Money.

He's defending roughly 50 points this week so he needed a good run here to maintain his ranking, which is already out of the top 100. Maybe these wins show a start of a revival in form for Dustin.

PHM lost 4-6 5-7 to Kukushkin, which is one of his worst losses in this run of poor form this season. He can't put back-to-back good matches together. Kuku is going higher and higher on my shit list, and these are the types of matches Paul needs to win to get back to his previous level.

Kukushkin is a good indoor player. He made the semifinals of Moscow last fall, and has beaten Cilic indoors. In 2008. This match was played indoors because of rain. Still, disapointing for PHM but he picks up a couple of points and got some matches in before the U.S. Open.
