Anyone know if Nole has pulled out? I'm kinda scared for Serbia if he does.

Tipsarevic or Troicki, that's the question.

I guess Nole will play, why not? He has a couple of days off and the week off afterwards.

Tipsarevic, nice!

Don't think he will beat Berdych, although he is capable of an upset, but he should beat Stepanek. Could be the decisive rubber.

Why aren't Berdych/Stepanek playing the doubles?

Why aren't Berdych/Stepanek playing the doubles?

They are playing for sure. The Czechs to that all the time with Hajek / Minar as doubles team but then they change it on Saturday. Maybe the wanna confuse the opponent :haha:

Smart decision to pick Janko over Viktor, but then again there have been questions of the fitness of Janko so hopefully he's OK.

Serbia is going to want to be 2-0 ahead after day one so Nole won't be forced to have to play Berdych with everything on the line, and him being potentially fatigued. It's gonna be important that he dispatches quickly of Stepanek. If he does, then he should beat Berdych. If not, then I think Berdych is the favorite.

I think the Czech are the slight favorite, but if Janko can upset Berdych or Serbia can win the doubles they'll like their chances.

I hope Janko has recovered. Tomas definitely has enough rest losing early at the US Open.:o

Both Radek and Viktor look extremely tired. Radek is exposing Viktor's fatigue and movement really badly, and is playing an inspired and tactically smart match and serving well. Viktor just too many mistakes.

Stepanek 4-6 6-2 6-4 4-*3

Stepanek(CZE) def. Troicki(SRB) 4-6 6-2 6-4 6-4

The more solid player, mentally and tatically, won today. He came to the net at appropriate times, used the dropshot effectively, and outsmarted and outmaneuvered Troicki consistently. Both guys were tired at the end.

The Czech are now the clear favorite to win this tie.

Janko is playing better than he did v Roddick at the Open, and that's saying something. He's completely on a different level than Tomas. Tomas is not playing well and I think Janko's play has totally surprised him and took him out of his game.

Tomas now has raised his level dramatically, while Janko is still playing decently, but not amazing anymore, and is also being forced on the defensive more often. Tomas is serving huge and hitting with authority.

That was very brainless from Berdych...when Djokovic is absent (at least from Friday) and your team mate has taken full advantage you have to play your part as well. :o

Serbia would not have been dead and buried at 0-2, but at 1-1 they are well and truly back in this tie, and that could be decisive. Berdych & Stepanek are a class pairing, but they need to be energised and playing to a good level to win the doubles...I have my doubts about Stepanek's general fitness, and Berdych's defeat on Friday is a little alarming for them as well.

Tipsarevic is leading 2 sets to none. Radek is far away of his best tennis and I don`t see him able to comeback this results. Serbia is steps away of his first DC final.
