Road to the US Open - Next up Toronto

07-10-2010, 08:07 PM
I will post the draw for Toronto, where Robin is the # 1 seed when we have it

07-11-2010, 01:16 AM
Thanks Misty1, good job, i like to have a new thread to cheer for Robin. :wavey:
Ferrer is probably the hardest challenge on road to Bastad final. Come on Robin, Do it well:)

07-11-2010, 01:27 AM
I have a voluntary activity the whole next week and cannot see Robin :(,

07-11-2010, 01:47 PM
yeah, when i saw the draw i thought ferrer would be the biggest test but daniel brands could be tricky too.

07-12-2010, 10:32 AM
I think he shouldn't have problems winning the tournament :) good luck!

07-13-2010, 05:47 PM
Robin will play against Vinciguerra tomorrow 21:00.

07-13-2010, 06:33 PM
good luck to robin

not really expecting an upset though

have they ever played before?

07-14-2010, 05:33 PM
They have met once – at last year's Swedish Open. Robin won in SF, 6-1, 7-6, and this match shouldn't be any problems for him.

07-14-2010, 05:41 PM
so was the match delayed?

its not on the scoreboard and he's not in the order of play for tommorrow

07-14-2010, 06:56 PM
misty1,now :)
Good luck Robin!

07-14-2010, 08:41 PM
Well, hes playing far from well, and he just lost the second set.. Not good at all with all those chances.

07-14-2010, 09:12 PM
6-2, 6-7, 5-2

0-15 after double fault # 7

6-2, 6-7, 6-2

15 aces, 7 double faults and only 56% first serve

07-14-2010, 09:23 PM
well at least he won:shrug: and I don't think he was playing bad. Keep it up Robin:yeah:

07-15-2010, 05:34 AM
seems a tough match, anyway,it doesn't matter in such level tournaments, expecting a good job in North American Hard court season~

07-17-2010, 01:15 PM
robin one game away from defening his title:)

4-6, 6-3, 6-2 over ferrer

sure would be nice if he could stop with the slow starts though

07-17-2010, 01:25 PM

07-17-2010, 04:35 PM
In the 2nd and 3rd set, Robin played really well, as he did in RG. He will face Almagro in the final – a tough opponent, but now when Robin has come up in his normal level I think he will take it in 2 sets and defend his title. :)

07-17-2010, 09:42 PM
might have a tough match against almugro, but he should have another title after the match

07-18-2010, 07:23 AM
good luck Robin, hope your 2nd title in this year

07-18-2010, 03:05 PM
robin lost

5-7, 6-3, 2-6

07-18-2010, 04:35 PM
bad loss, expected him to win.
still, final is good and there are still many more tournaments to be played

07-18-2010, 06:35 PM
Robin's fourth final and his third loss this year. I hope he can improve those stats a bit during the rest of the season. Next tournament for Robin is Toronto.

07-19-2010, 01:04 AM
poor Robin

07-19-2010, 12:30 PM
robin

07-20-2010, 06:30 PM
Båstad was exaktly like Barcelona where Sod made a final playing on a great low level but ran into a good opponent in the final. To bad though he couldn't snatch another clay title. Hopefully Robin will make a Masters final soon and i pray he takes the title when the chance comes. Hopefully he can win sthlm this year 2 ;)

Isn't Robin's Next Tournament Washington D.C.?

I see him No.1 IN THE Entry List

07-21-2010, 01:51 PM
I think Robin will play Washington

07-21-2010, 02:00 PM
is he? someone had just said somwhere his next tournament was toronto and i never bothered to look

so he is, sorry everyone. Guess i should have checked it out myself, i will fix the title

07-21-2010, 03:03 PM
I am sure he will skip Washington even if he is still in the list.

07-21-2010, 03:17 PM
so i may have to change the title back to toronto.....i should have waited to make the first change i guess

07-21-2010, 03:22 PM
You can see in this article – – that Robin's next tournament is Toronto.

07-21-2010, 03:23 PM
according to sweden Eurosport (as said Magnus Norman) his order of play is :

Toronto, Cincinnati, US Open, Davis Cup, Kuala Lumpur, Peking or Tokyo, Shanghai, Stockholm, Paris and maybe London.

No Washington & Valencia.

07-21-2010, 04:25 PM
Hmm, between week 32 and 41 he will only have one whole week's rest. I would wanted him to skip Kuala Lumpur (250, week 38) after DC so he could rest at least for one week. High risk of injuries. :(

07-21-2010, 04:42 PM
that is why he should have a good rest now.

but i think he can skip Kuala Lumpur (as Halle) if he will need in rest :)

07-22-2010, 07:47 AM
Can't see any reason of playing KL 250 when he is playing in Sthlm why play two 250.s in one month where so few points are involved.

07-23-2010, 01:18 AM
He should skip KL, i agree

07-24-2010, 11:55 AM
He withdrew from Washington for personal reasons

08-01-2010, 06:50 AM
From official site of Robin:

Back from Vacation
Saturday 31 July 2010

Hi everyone!

We are back in business again after a short summer leave.

Robin is starting his hard court season in North America in a few weeks where Toronto, Canada is the first stop.

After the Masters 1000-tournament in Toronto he will continue his trip to Cincinnati, USA for another Masters 1000- tournament. During these two tournaments Robin will have a temporary coach due to Magnus Norman’s foot injury. Johan Kareld will help him during these two tournaments.

The last stop of the North America trip is of course US Open in New York, USA.

Magnus will meet up there to coach Robin during the Grand Slam tournament.

08-02-2010, 04:33 AM
thanks AgnRUS

08-04-2010, 09:33 PM
Well I'm sure he'll skip Kuala Lumpur if he has a long USO run. Skipping Stockholm instead of Valencia would've be even better schedule wise but of course that's not happening. The schedule will not be human though if he does well in USO and then in Asia. Don't want to see him withdraw in Stockholm with an injury again. He made the wise choice to stay home from DC anyways. Also interesting to see how he behaves on court these weeks without Magnus ;)

08-06-2010, 09:11 PM
Robin's quarter:

Lopez/de Bakker

08-07-2010, 09:03 AM
A very tough draw. No player he's gonna face is an easy opponent, so he will have to fight very hard to go far in this tournament. And if he advances to SF, he will probably meet either Nadal or Roddick. :(

08-07-2010, 10:50 PM
more than likely nadal but if it is by some twist roddick, given how roddick has played lately i wouldnt be to scared about that

08-08-2010, 01:12 AM
So tough draw, this draw is really more difficult than GS draw or any other tournaments> anyway hope Robin will do well. Come on

08-08-2010, 07:38 AM
Robin will play doubles.

1st round:

Nieminen/Soderling - Benneteau/Llodra

08-08-2010, 09:01 AM
No easy opponents. I expect a first round loss.

08-08-2010, 12:46 PM
come on Robin, I couldn't see Robin play Bastad and I'm waiting to see him on court in Toronto

08-08-2010, 10:14 PM
Rogers cup website promotes him as the tuesday matinee "star", so an early start on tuesday and a good chance for us fans in Europe to see him play.

08-10-2010, 10:08 AM
Söderling/Nieminen lost in straight sets, 3-6, 5-7. Pretty expected. But it's today Robin will start his tournament. He'll play against Gulbis (deafeted Belluci in 2 sets) at 3 pm local time on the centre court. Good luck Robin!

08-10-2010, 10:59 AM
I'm glad they lost the doubles, one match is enough..

08-10-2010, 12:28 PM
Yeah, so am I. He should concentrate more on singles.

08-10-2010, 05:08 PM
Cmon Robin!!!:worship:

08-10-2010, 07:14 PM
It's ok to lose the doubles.
The single draw is insane, hope he will play against Andy.At least I'll be happy whoevers will win. :o

08-10-2010, 08:30 PM
4-6 :(

08-10-2010, 10:30 PM
4-6 6-4 6-4 :woohoo:
next opponent - Nalbandian/Robredo

08-11-2010, 12:39 AM
happy for robin, got a bit lucky in that match though because ernests really should have broken in that 2nd set, he had so many chances up 3-2

08-11-2010, 08:49 AM
Puh! That's close. I hope he'll meet Robredo in R3 – Nalbandian seems to be in a good shape right now.

08-11-2010, 09:47 AM
Nalby is really in good condition now,But I guess he will feel tired after so many matches these weeks~LOL~

08-11-2010, 10:58 AM
Nal is really tough, I hope he will meet Robredo

08-11-2010, 05:58 PM
Nalba just beat Tommy 63 60<, Sod will meet nalba in R3

08-12-2010, 07:59 AM
It will be tough, but I think Robin will win this in 3 after a very tight match.

08-12-2010, 08:07 AM
Robin will play against Nalbandian at 11 am local time – 17.00 CEST.

08-12-2010, 12:06 PM
good luck Robin, I believe you can do it well

08-12-2010, 01:17 PM
not going to be easy but good luck Robin.

08-12-2010, 02:08 PM
good luck

08-12-2010, 03:32 PM
Nalba is playing well, Robin ia having many difficulties

08-18-2010, 05:05 AM
Robin is playing L. Hewitt(AUS) on Grand Stand at 7 p.m. local time.

08-18-2010, 12:00 PM
will be a hard one

he's 0-3 against lleyton and lost to him in 3 sets here last year

08-26-2010, 06:25 PM
Robin's Quarter at USO :

Robin Soderling vs. Qualifier
Taylor Dent vs. Alejandro Falla
Thiemo de Bakker vs. Qualifier
Qualifier vs. Fernando Gonzalez

Albert Montanes vs. Michal Przysiezny
Carsten Ball vs. Qualifier
Qualifier vs. Evgeny Korolev

not easy...and Federer again:smash:

08-26-2010, 06:51 PM
Pretty good draw to 1/4. Gonzo is half as good as in IW, Cilic is way of any form. De Bakker is the biggest threat from a Federling 1/4.

08-27-2010, 10:28 AM
good luck Robin

08-27-2010, 06:30 PM
If Robin is fit, I think he will go to the QF, at least. Go, Robin! :)
